So just to elucidate why what Trump's saying about children going to school and coming home a few days later as a different sex, I'm a trans person, and I'm actually getting that surgery. It took me at least 6 months to get an approval letter, another year to get the consultation, and during that, they told me that my first time actually talking to the surgeon will be in THREE YEARS. Also the hospital stay is anywhere from five days to a month, and even then there's several months of healing to do at home. Putting aside the absurd idea that children are getting surgery for such things when that's clearly opposed by ALL medical professionals, the idea that all this can get done in mere days is CRAZY.

Also, if your child went to school and just vanished, wouldn't the rational response to be to call the police instead of just waiting a few days?
