The Laird Family of New Jersey has been producing applejack, or apple brandy, for nine generations. Correspondent Mo Rocca drinks in the history of the alcoholic beverage that helped fortify a revolution, put at least one president in the White House, and is — even in these sobering times — keeping spirits up.

This is a terrific (and appropriate) addition to your all American apple pie!

And Apple jack is what Johnny Appleseed was all about! Wild apples weren't the sweet, nice things we have now. But the rather sour things they were, were still great for making liquor.

I am appalled that CBS would air a segment like this that tells paints a somewhat positive picture of a story which includes historical figures that once owned slaves and/or knew someone who owned slaves and/or passed someone in the street who owned slaves and/or lived within 50 miles of someone who owned slaves and/or knew someone who knew someone who was a 3rd cousin of someone who knew someone who owned slaves.

CBS should be ASHAMED of themselves.
