Penn & Teller FOOLED by AWESOME SKATEBOARD TRICK! Illusionist Leon Etienne: Magic Rocks!

Illusionist Leon Etienne's FIRST appearance on the hit TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us! A custom trick designed just for the show. THANK YOU to Jonathan Ross for his on the spot hilarious improv which adds tremendously to the presentation.

I think that's the first time I've heard Penn actually describe an entire method to doing a trick.
I really loved that whole interaction. Your, "yeah, that would absolutely work, but it's not how we did it" response was great. lol

There are two parts to this trick. One is doing the trick...the other is adding in the part to fool Penn and Teller. The part where Leon takes the box, puts it on the deck, and then hands to Romy was there to get Penn and Teller to think that's how it was done. If that wasn't in the trick, they probably would have figured out the actual way they passed the card. This was magic designed to fool magicians while still entertaining the crowd.

Romy is unbelievably beautiful and a delight to watch. Her stage presence and amazing smile matches Leon's confidence. Neither of them have an aura of ego or pretentiousness, which made this so much fun and deserving of repeat viewings. I watched this three times!

it's obvious that he dropped the card behind the black stand before picking up the yellow helmet. the good part is they know that penn will suspect the girl that walks in the opposite side with the box. a great misdirection

Possible Explanation:

1st: He didn't shuffle the cards if you look closely at 2:10 he shuffled the cards 3 times but the 4 of diamonds was always at the bottom after every shuffle. he did a controlled shuffle there..

2nd: He dropped the card behind the chair and the skateboard assistant came and step on the card with sticky stuff on the bottom of shoes. when both of them were splitting the deck between them near the ramp at 3:35 . The skateboard assistant can be seen stretching his both legs there he took off the sticky card from his shoes and stuck it inside the skateboard while picking it up.

Was this a double-misdirection? Jonathan Ross with the feather helmet was for the audience, but Romy walking offstage a second misdirection just for Penn & Teller? Ingenious...

2:34 - He slipped the card to the far side of the box where the helmet prop is. The assistant who came out with the feathered hat grabbed it (or some other assistant did out of camera view) and stuck it under the skateboard from behind the scene where the kid was waiting. Notice the kid comes out after the introduction holding the skateboard with the underside facing away from the crowd.

As Leon said, its an appearing signed card, its a predictable ending routine at this point, but boy was it entertaining to watch! This is actually a great job and a new take on a classic trick.

I'm seeing comments here that explain the first "drop" when he picks up the yellow helmet - also @ 3:26, you can see there's a pocket on the back of the chair that the card would slip into - but I don't think anyone has properly described HOW the card is transferred from the back of the chair to the board (and the card was on the board before the skater came out.)
