I think this was a great video. A designated studio set up is perfect for consistency as well as being able to knock out a video quickly without worrying about where you are going to set up.

I'm glad to know that I'm NOT the only ONE that does the 3, 2, 1 or forget where I was going with my content. I've just started to become more raw in my videos, as I don't have all the time in the world to edit my videos!

Super limited budget. Upgrading my camera from my phone to an actual camera. $89 through Amazon. Using a green screen that came with 3 studio lights- $154 Amazon. I can change my background with my mouse. 10 x 20 canvass/carport studio $239/Costco. Plus tripod and miscellaneous... I got less than $750 into my studio. Thank you, Think Media, for your great videos. I am super new to Youtube and find your information invaluable! You have a loyal follower here. Keep it up!

Complaining is not a strategy. Thanks to your videos, I keep saying that to myself every 10 mins and it really helps a lot!

Glad you included the out takes at the end. Really helps with my confidence when I see someone at your level having the same issues as everyone else.

Great video showing your setup Sean! If you're ever looking to switch out your pillow covers - I'd be happy to sew you new ones!

The best part was the bloopers at the end. Why? Because you made it look so easy during the video. A really good and detailed explanation of the items for beginners like me.

To answer your question of the day, I think this video was very thorough. As a starting YouTuber, I think that you really just have to work with what you have. To some it can be almost intimidating since we feel like we can't do it without all of the right equipment. It's important just to start. This video is pretty much the end goal of the perfect ideal set up. Thanks for sharing with us!

funny how years ago i watched your video and thought that someday i would be thanking you and trying to replicate this with some DIY cheap gear to go for a humble start... and now i don't know how i end up getting more advanced gear and broke the bank and still thanking you for sharing your awesome setup.

I think it's important to have an interesting background. Some people may look at my background as TOO busy, but for me, I use it as a way to illustrate the mics I've tested. Hopefully people see it, and think of it as interesting, ultimately driving more traffic to my videos.

Dude, do you think that Rode mic would work well for capturing guitarists? I do some lesson videos where I’m talking and playing

While a pristine dedicated YouTube "studio" is probably not feasible in a house with small children, your styling tips and gear advice (hair light?! wow!) are really helpful! Maybe I'll get off my iPhone and onto something proper this year too. Thanks!

Talk about where you find your music and how you mix it into your videos.

Discovered my set by experimenting, was using the sofa but I have an open plan living room and the kitchen made for a terrible backdrop. I now use the corner of the room which has my nerd shelf full of games, action figures and Pops

A question I think most guys avoid asking or even talking about... Makeup. Do you put on any kind of makeup to your face to cut down on shine?

Had some major issues with that Manfrotto video head. Went through not one but two of them in a short time frame. The fluid color (red ring) for the pan got jammed up. Had to send it into Manfrotto for repair and got a brand new one back (they wouldn't repair it). Got the new one back and then the fluid tensioner knob for the head's tilt just jammed up the other day. Not sure if the person who was operating the camera at the time (I stepped out of the shoot and handed over to another photographer) tightened it too much but it's now completely jammed.

Point is, be very careful with that tri-pod video head. The fluid tensioners are very sensitive and clearly prone to locking up.

Does that camera you have in the back on your studio do autofocus? You mention the Canon 5i I have the Revel version and it doesn't do autofocus and it's giving me a really hard time to record myself I always look blurry.
