Tariff threats are flying in all directions. The US just managed to stitch together a truce with China and now US President Donald Trump is upping the ante against the European Union over an old dispute over aircraft subsidies for Boeing and Airbus. The US has released a new list of goods up for tariffs worth four billion dollars. It includes metals, cheese, cherries and whiskey. The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States warns duties would jeopardize American jobs and hurt consumers. The World Trade Organization has found the two biggest airplane makers, Boeing and Airbus, receive billions of dollars in harmful subsidies, but is yet to make a ruling.

America is a capitalistic mess. Europe isn't perfect either but I'm glad to be European and not American.

EU should hit them back with the same tariffs.

Well if US prices go up we’ll just have to consume more European products. Buy Adidas not Nike, get a Nokia, not a Motorola and so on. As for US food I don’t eat any so no loss there. If Mc Donald’s gets more expensive is a good thing as that is not food for human consumption. Finally the cinema, maybe it’s time Europe has a credible, single language, alternative to Hollywood. Competition is gooodd !

With an 'ally' like this! It is getting easier and easier when previous opponents or 'enemies' share more interests than with a so called ally.

I would avoid visiting US or Canada now if I were a high official of Airbus.

The rest of the world should ditch the dollar and start trading in another currency.

No problem, we double the tariffs, but this time we target cloud services from the big American banks and IT companies.

The American taxpayers should be furious by now, again, I repeat, should be. The problem this century is that our global system of political economy , " capitalism, "  is destroying the planet, and all the life on it. Can you imagine a bigger problem than that? In this age of broken systems, the problem isn’t you or me, my friends,  unless, ironically enough, we think the problem is you or me. anyone who can bankrupt a casino can surly bankrupt a country as well. we're at a failure of the economy going into this abyss of no return.

Now, that the US government put the punitive tariff from 10 % up to 15 %, you can really say that Airbus builds quality jets which have its price.

The US is one country, the EU is not. The EU has not paid for its defense.

So the USA has a trade deficit with the EU, China, Mexico, Japan and Canada. They are currently running the largest trade deficit for any country in the world. Maybe they do have a legitimate problem that needs to be balanced!

Morally accuse Europe for financially supporting Airbus but doing it itself at Boeing. Good joke, America... good joke! xD

As soon as they can get a new Boeing 737 floating on the air long enough, we can start talking business.
