The Carlsberg Foundation together with the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and Voluntas recently launched the "Vision 2050" initiative with the goal of creating a new vision for Denmark’s future. The ambition with the initiative is to pave the way for solutions for the future based on sound knowledge, creative imagination, multidisciplinarity and well-founded views. Join us as we went behind-the-scenes of the process.

As Futures Partners and Futures Members of CIFS, we wanted to provide with an exclusive look behind the scenes. We showcases the process and the outcome of Vision 2050 in this interactive workshop format, where you get to try out some of the strategic foresight tools for yourself.

The workshop is divided into two sessions:
1) Session 1: In foresight, the process is at least as important as the outcome. We enter the engine room of Vision 2050 through a visioning exercise. The goal is to show how challenging, but also inspiring it can be to create a vision together.

2) Session 2: In foresight, we try to learn about the present through the lens of the future, not the other way around. Therefore, we investigate at the final vision itself and what needs to be done to materialise the vision through a backcasting exercise will be used to inspire participants to discover solutions or key cardinal points in the development.

The event was hosted by CEO Daria ‘Dasha’ Krivonos and Senior Advisor Simon Fuglsang Østergaard and is exclusive to our Futures Partners and Futures Members.

This is the third of our ten yearly Futures Seminars that will explore a variety of themes and trends. The first three is part of the theme ‘Exploring possible futures’, where we examine the many different aspects of futures studies and foresight as a discipline.
