Regarding Moses' burning bush: Most people miss what *actually* grabbed Moses attention about the bush. Here's the Exodus text:

"...the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “I must turn aside now and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” [Exodus 3:2b–3, NASB]

While it seems highly dubious any variety of bush exists that regularly self-ignites°, even if one does, this is largely irrelevant to this story. Moses was not made curious by a bush *burning*, but by a bush that *never stopped* burning.


°In my (admittedly somewhat limited) research over the years, I have been unable to verify a self-igniting species of bush exists in that part of the world. However, some varieties... notably "ductamnus albus"... have been proposed as potential candidates. While such varieties do produce a number of volatile oils, whether one gets lit intentionally or (somehow) by chance, it will still burn up. None of these burn indefinitely, like some huge bushy candle (or miniature oil well). Instead, I've read they actually burn up *more* quickly, precisely because of these oils. I am, of course, open to learning new information about this.

Cool episode as always, I love origin studies as a side issue. As pointed out, the most important thing is to not divide over these issues, this particular topic always seems to get people's blood boiling. I can tell you as a Theistic Evolutionist, I take the bible just as seriously as when I was a Young Earth Creationist (which I was for most of my life)

If evolution is true why can we dig up horses and camels and all kinds of other animals that are 1000 years old and they have the exact same biology as the animals do today? We just don't see any newly evolved creatures, of evolution is true we should have hundreds of animals we have dug up that were evolutionary dead ends, yet we have found none.

Actually if science can't prove there's a god. It can't prove there isn't a god. So no science needed in not believing. The question now is you prove it?
