I think it was Mace Windu that said Kenobi was the THE Soresu master. That is high praise. And it played into Kenobi so well. He was Not the most powerful Jedi, but he was Studious, and determined. That is how he became a padawan, that is how he became a Council member, and that is how he foiled Vader on Mustafar.

“That is so like you, Master Kenobi. I am called a great swordsman because I invented a lethal style; but who is greater, the creator of the killing form—or the master of the classic form?”

Even out of practice he was able to effortlessly deflect thise blaster shots . When he last faced dooku . Dooku admitted Obi-Wan had become a master of soresu . That why dooku had to use the force against kenobi in there last battle

I’ve always admired Obi-Wan for his insane defensive skills using Soresu

After hearing the detailed description you gave of Soresu as well as how Obi-Wan was able to incorporate his experience with Ataru into his use of Soresu, I'm almost certain that Soresu is the perfect companion to the other forms of lightsaber combat; excluding Form VII for obvious reasons. The fact that Soresu had no real offensive techniques to speak of may sound like a weakness, but if a Jedi were to incorporate quick offensive strikes utilized by the other forms and use them to deliver the final blow at just the right moment, they could end a battle almost instantly. Imagine if there was a Jedi as skilled in Soresu as Obi-Wan who could strike with the speed and precision of a master of Form II like Dooku, or with the devastating power of a master of Form V like Anakin or Plo Koon.

I also believe that Obi-Wan's usage of Soresu and his dedication to the form and what it represented proves he was the epitome of a Jedi Guardian. Some have argued that Obi-Wan would have made more sense as a Jedi Consular given his stance on the Force and his affinity for negotiation. However, I would argue that Obi-Wan's decision to only use violence when absolutely necessary, and always in the defense of another before himself, proved that he was what every Guardian, and every Jedi as a whole should have aspired to be. He had his fair share of flaws to be sure, but he always did what was right, and tried like hell to make the galaxy around him better through peace. While a Guardian's role was to destroy the Dark Side, I'd argue that their first priority should have been to ensure the safety of the innocent. Obi-Wan did that by always choosing peace first. He'd rather save a person's life than kill a Dark Side user. He may not have always succeeded, but he still tried. Even after losing hope, he found a reason to get back into the fight and do his part.

In conclusion: Obi-Wan is the greatest.

Form III is my favorite lightsaber style as it embodies an excellent philosophy to combat. I'm a chess player and I play extremely defensively in both Chess, and in any strategy game I touch. I also love form II and personally I would love to see someone master both form III and form II. They mesh well together, in my opinion, and cover what the other lacks while simultaneously both conserving stamina and abusing openings in an opponents guard. I can clearly visualize someone flowing from form III, blocking and parrying an opponent's blade, into a rapid and well placed jab or slash. Combining footwork, with a cool head and I can see the two forms making the practitioner extremely hard to combat. Then again, lightsaber forms take a long time to master and it's hard enough to even be considered a master of one...let alone two and then to perfectly flow both forms together in combat.

I think obi wan not only showed how powerful form 3 can be, but also how powerful being the master of multiple forms can be. You can shift on the fly and keep your opponent off balance and control the fight

He beat maul, Grevious, Survived order 66, beat Anikan, and beat Maul again. I would say it worked out well for him, best jedi ever

I love the long strikes in the new choreography. Especially when Luke was taking down the droids in the Mandalorian. Extremely elegant yet aggressive strikes.

I have always been a fan of the Odds; Form #1, Form #3, and Form #5. Basic strikes/offense, basic blocks/defense, and a blend of defense with countering. Form #7 can be either a berserker (Sith) or the eye of a tornado or hurricane; taking the incoming energy, letting it flow through you and then giving back at your opponent.

Every iconic Star Wars character must have a hallway scene lol. Not that I'm complaining. That scene with Obi-wan deflecting blaster bolts and cutting down the stormtroopers was the highlight in an otherwise rushed and clunky episode.

interesting video as always. I have always thought combineing Soresu and Makashi could be a very interesting mix :)
Looking forward to your videos on the other forms

His mastery of Soresu is the very reason why Obi-Wan is considered to be the ultimate Jedi in the Revenge of the Sith novel.

Props to Nick Gillard, he’s one of the (real) reasons we have so many different forms

Makes perfect sense why he likes to taunt at his opponents during a fight. He wants them to get angry so they can be more aggresive and eventually make a mistake he can capitalize on.

Form 3 is basically, I don’t defeat you but you defeat yourself.
