Deltarune the (not) Musical - VS Susie

Man, I tried to warn you. So did Toby. So don't expect me to feel guilty... when Deltarune Chapter 2 comes out in several years along with the full game.

(I am the fool it came out but NOT along with the full game)

(Deltarune, as of the release of this video, is not a complete game. Toby Fox admitted that the first chapter is only a demo. I thus cannot make a full Deltarune the Musical, but what I CAN do is release individual songs that aren't connected like a musical!)

Cool detail I just noticed: One of the most important aspects of Susie's character, especially in the first chapter, is how rebellious she is (refusing to join the party, breaking rules, etc.) This rebellious nature is highlighted in her singing; in this song, as well as Susie and Field of Hopes and Dreams, Susie never sings to the actual melody of the songs, instead making up her own melodies.

Susie is rebelling against the music.

The one exception is here in Vs. Susie, where she sings along to her leitmotif in the chorus, which showcases Susie succumbing to people's perception of her as a villain, instead of rebelling against that notion.

"Everybody's saying Susie's just a common brute/So i guess that that's the truth/I see nothing else to do"

I like how each character has a different singing style.
Ralsei sings like a pop singer matching his lyrics to the melody.

Susie sings like a Rock Singer using the song as background noise for Actual lyrics.

Lancer sings like kid show singer censoring himself and being comical with his lyrics

And chaos King sings likes an opera with lyrics because that's older traditional style of music.

Let's be honest. This is the actual emotional climax of the story. Of Susie's story.
The King is sorta just tying up loose ends for chapter 1.

God, you could really hear betrayal in her voice, the way she's furiously singing, full of hurt and as the song goes on, she gets angrier and more weaker/wavey in the voice.

Bravo!

Love how the song uses a few lyrics from the original "Susie".
And whoever voiced Susie here, the vocals are legendary.

You have this epic super emotional scene going on meanwhile Kris is in the other room having a mossy snack and embracing their handcuff fetish... great job bro though you smashed it!

"Life's a game I just don't wanna play and yet I'm here for war."

Man, that's pretty heckin' powerful words, there. All I can think of in response is: 'Yeah, me too, I guess.'

Honestly- I feel so bad for Susie- shes so used to people treating her like a freak and betraying- she misunderstood and thought Lancer was no different- I- understand that too well....

Immagine like Suzie Roaring and saying I'm gona kill you if you don't move!
And Lancer thinking
"Man... my dad will get hurt"

In Lancer's song:
"I'm the riding ace of spades! (I know he's the Jack of Spades, don't @ me)"
*"Life's a game I love to play!"*

In Vs Susie:
*"Life's a game I just don't wanna play"*
"And yet I'm here for war"

Toriel: If you leave the Ruins, Asgore will kill you. I am only protecting you, do you understand?

Lancer: If I let you guys go, then you and my dad will fight. At least if you stay here, you won’t get hurt.

Am I the only one seeing a resemblance?

Three years later, with chapter two and the Spamton Sweepstakes giving us more insight into Susie's character, this is still so accurate.
HOW DID THIS AGE SO WELL?!

I love Susie's voice in this so much. She's so aggressive and has a low-pitched voice to match, even when she's singing it sounds like she's always trying to sound tough. Even when she's sad and trying to convince Lancer to let her go. But then, when Lancer asks if they're still friends, her voice gets a lot higher as she's genuinely caught off guard. She goes right back to the tough girl voice, but it's something that stuck out to me.
