Hey Bojan why do we use icons for prayer in the ALL TO HOLY ORTHODOX CHURCH and is it true that LUKE THE APOSTLE painted the first icons ? Because I heard people claim that he didnt and also claim that his gospel wasnt even written by him.(also dont forget to read everything written in caps lock with a very angelic voice)

Concerning ecumenism, aren't there canons forbidding things like clergy from praying with people of other confession? St. Gabriel of Georgia said ecumenism is super-heresy, but he was still very friendly with people of other religions and talked with them. The fact that the Orthodox Church did not allow me to have communion when I was outside her is part of the reason I joined. If the said that I was already good as I was then I would not have felt the imperative to convert and I would not have had the incredible experience of being part of the Church. You really should not say that you are all for it when there are serious problems already regarding ecuminism. It is common for Orthodox Christians in the Arab world to frequent Catholic Churches and take communion. I know an Orthodox woman who attended and communed at a Catholic Church because it fit her schedule better. I was at pains to explain that if they love and try to serve Jesus, great, but this is forbidden! There are Orthodox Christians who want to have icons of Catholic saints and pray to them. Furthermore, there are people who are seriously trying to unite all the Churches, and sometimes all the world religions. You have instances of people like Pope John Paul II kissing the Quran and holding prayer meetings with members of different religions for world peace. There are people like this in the Orthodox Church. You should at least clarify that by saying you are for ecuminism that you are not for inter-communion.

Sorta confused by your take on Saint Augustine -- I've read the Confessions and some of his other works and they were very spiritually edifying. I guess that (Catholic here) he's bigger in our liturical tradition then yours, though.
