Christine Movie CLIP - Jealousy (2016) - Rebecca Hall Movie

Rebecca Hall stars in director Antonio Campos' third feature film, CHRISTINE, the story of a woman who finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a spiraling personal life and career crisis. Christine, always the smartest person in the room at her local Sarasota, Florida news station, feels like she is destined for bigger things and is relentless in her pursuit of an on-air position in a larger market. As an aspiring newswoman with an eye for nuance and an interest in social justice, she finds herself constantly butting heads with her boss (Tracy Letts), who pushes for juicier stories that will drive up ratings. Plagued by self-doubt and a tumultuous home life, Christine’s diminishing hope begins to rise when an on-air co-worker (Michael C. Hall) initiates a friendship which ultimately becomes yet another unrequited love. Disillusioned as her world continues to close in on her, Christine takes a dark and surprising turn.

The first 6 seconds of this clip shows someone who is in deep, terminal, emotional pain. Anyone with depression understands this and it moves them seeing it, even if acted. Once a person gets here, there usually is no escape.

This is a phenomenal film. People without depression do not understand it in the slightest. As the endless pain of depression consumes you, you begin allowing more and more basal emotion to erupt to the surface. You are not necessarily in control of this; it changes you. The facade fades away and you begin to openly exhibit jealousy, hatred, malcontentedness, anger, etc.

I won't give away the end, but I'll just say, watch her face as she is informed that the film clip won't run. It is the final insult and her facial expressions say, "Time to go."

Absolutely brilliant performance by Rebecca Hall. Why is she not being discussed for an Oscar nomination?

The bursting out crying in public is too relatable. I hate it.

I don’t think I’ve seen depression summed up so well in a performance or film

I love the fact that her facial expression before crying wasn't sadness, it was more like "wtf is going on"

Such an underrated film and performance from Rebecca Hall about depression, and the lengths some will take to make it stop. I wish she could have held on.

Looking forward to seeing this film. I can't believe this actually happened over 40 years ago and I didn't know about it until now.

This film made me cry inside. After watching this I couldn’t help but realize how much I relate to Christine. I suffer from depression cuz I can’t seem to find a partner to like me, I’ve been in relationships before but ever since my last one I’ve suddenly lost the ability to find another. It’s been years since I’ve had a girlfriend and I’m extremely lonely. Like Christine I’m not exactly ugly I’ve been considered “attractive” to some but looks hasn’t been the problem, it’s my inability to connect and interact with others. I’m very antisocial and I’ve tried to make new friends but they get turned off due to my social awkwardness. When I dont try I’m not helping myself but when I do try nothing improves, I’ve been told to keep trying but my mind can no longer take the rejection I’m constantly getting. Fortunately im not having suicidal thoughts(I don’t plan on taking that route)but I feel like I can no longer be good enough for anyone. I watched this movie for the first time yesterday and it now means so much to me. Thank you Rebecca Hall for an outstanding performance and R.I.P Christine Chubbuck🙏🏾😢

I absolutely loved this movie. In my opinion, Christine's character is a typical person with Borderline Personality Disorder. You can clearly see her desperate need for attention, however she is petrified when actually given attention and pushes people away. She is afraid of being abandoned and cannot feel happy for her mother's boyfriend. She struggles because of her extreme emotional reactions to things and her black and white thinking. Fantastic movie, a masterpiece.

This is a fantastic film. I really felt sorry for her when she realized that the guy she had a crush on didn't like her that way. Sadly I have lots of experience myself in that department 😢

By the small chance that Hall gets a surprising Oscar Nomination for Best Actress for this, I might cry happy tears. But I won't be shocked if she isn't nominated. Fucking Oscars
