Premiere Pro - Adjusting tonality -- brightness & contrast

NOTE: I used Premiere Pro CS6 when recording these lessons. The CC version of Premiere Pro behaves differently.

Previous versions had scopes accessed in the Reference monitor either by the panel menu or later by clicking the little wrench icon toward the lower-right corner of the panel.

In 2015, Adobe replaced the Reference monitor scopes with scopes taken from the company's professional color grading product, SpeedGrade. To access those scopes go to the Windows menu and click on Lumetri Scopes.

The Lumetri scopes work very much like the old Reference monitor scopes.

This lesson explains how to use the YC Waveform scope to analyze clips tonality: brightness & contrast. Then use either the Fast Color Corrector or the RGB Curves video effect to adjust tonality to ensure a full contrast range.

Excellent, excellent, excellent tutorial. Many other tuts don't go so in-depth as yours and miss out a lot of the key stuff that really helps. Truly grateful!

I finally needed to edit a clip with a contrast problem and this video was the first coherent explanation I've ever seen on fixing contrast problems in Premiere Pro. As always Jeff has a professional delivery without being scripted. A very complex subject made so my simple mind could fully understand it. Thanks !!

By far the best Premiere Pro tutorial. I actually understood everything you were demonstrating. It brought together all the things I have learned and didn't understand in the past CS tutorials including Photoshop and Lightroom. I cannot begin to thank you enough.

This is the best explanation about color corrections I've seen on youtube, so many tutorials mix up correction with grading, this was very helpful. This helped me understand scopes more clearly and when to use curves and when to just use the input or outputs on "fast color correction." There's more to it when it involves skin tones but this was very helpful.
