Thanks for doing this. When it comes to Thin Lizzy as an American I kinda feel cheated. When Phil died I was 19 and never even heard a word about it because Thin Lizzy wasn't on the radar and were ignored by the media. The radio only played 2 songs by them and burned them out long ago. If it weren't for YT I'd still be in the dark about their greatness. CRIMINALLY underrated AND under-appreciated band.

Nice video - little known fact (outside those steeped in DP’s history), Ritchie Blackmore - on getting itchy feet with the band of which he was so much a part - Deep Purple - did some recording sessions with Phil
Lynnot - circa 1973/1974. “Baby Face” was I think the projected name of this grouping - nothing came of the sessions - and I haven’t heard whether any tapes still survive - not sure of the “exact chemistry” that there would have between Lynott and Blackmore - it’s probably true to say, however, that the latter would have sussed this tall Dublin dude was going to make it big !

He may have had alcohol and crack issues but he had so much charisma for a front man and bass player. He had that cheeky wink aswell.Never saw Lizzy live .However he played bass much the same as Lemmy and Geezer Butler.A rythmn guitar with four strings.

Correction : He was not brought up by his mother. She abandoned him, gave him to her mother his granny. She was irish from Irish parents not any Portuguese. His mother’s abandonment gave him issues, even though she came back when he got success, and he bought her a house. All he wanted was love to be loved. He didn’t take any more drugs than The Stones, Bowie, AC/DC or any group of the time.
