Camera models get upgraded every 1-3ish years. Lenses usually don't get upgraded for 5-10 years or more. It's always the smartest bet to invest in your glass

Yeah, recently got back to Photography after 10 years and pulled out an old 50mm f1.4 that was locked up a long time and the difference to the stock lense of the camera i bought is huge. Not only are the shots more crisp but the lense got a character on its own wich gives all pictures a unique flare to them.

I would really recommend a 35mm to every beginner, really good Allrounder lens but always depends on what you want to be shooting. Ofcourse it's not good for wildlife but I would 100% recommend it for portraits and videography. I personally think the 50mm is a bit overrated, I guess the best you could buy if you have the money is a solid zoom lens, I never had any issues with sharpness even at 40+mp and you have all the focal lengths in one lens.
Just never forget it's just a tool and no lens will just make you perfect. Find your favorite and start shooting :D

At this point, I feel like there's a good answer- and it would have to be a used ZVe10 for a limited budget beginner, an a6700 for a beginner who could afford a little more, and either the a7c ii or the a7iv for a well off/money ain't a problem beginner. While it depends on what style you're shooting, you're a beginner who is tasting the waters from the root- 1) are you a photography person or a videography person first and foremost?, and these hybrid cameras can do them all. 2) what style of photography/videography? at which point, it's not the camera, but the lens. Pick what suits your style. 3) There is no step 3. Just make sure you stick to one brand if you're of limited means, and buy whatever you want if you're a bazillionaire. It's that easy.

I mean, new lens are very expensive and not durable.

If you change your camera brand, most lens won’t be exchangeable.
E to L to RF to Z doesn’t exist.

Yes they are sharp, autofocus, stab, …
But an old vintage lens has more beauty in it.
Their aperture is as cool as their look.

Also to mention that old lenses haven’t a good autofocus motor compare too new one’s. So in 10 years, your lens won’t be as good as the new one’s.

Buy vintage lenses and 6-10 years old camera 😉

Once you said nifty 50mm 1.8f is the best lens for most cameras. I have 600D body canon. Because it is a crop sensor camera, will 50mm do the same best or do I have to get a 35mm 1.8f lens to make it happen?

In our country noone cares about that sadly cuz if i take photo on portrait on 2.0f and really good bookeh on bakdround they say my phone has also portrait and i say them go ahead. Welp. Thats why i really wanna quit my hobby taking photos on my friends as well
