"What type of computers are you people running distros on?" Anything thing that will run them. Trying to reduce e-wastes and save money. I love the challenge.

Q4OS Trinity is one of my top Debian based distros. I love the look and feel. I'm currently using Debian 10 lxqt with the openbox wm. Love it!!! Q4OS Trinity is so fast even on my 2008 up desktop!! 😀. Highly recommended based on my experience with it over the last few years.

Q4OS Trinity has been my linux distro on desktops/laptops for quite a few years now and I just find it perfect for what I do on the computers. There are things like XPQ4 which you can get to make it even more 'Windows' like, not just XP, but Windows 7, and others. I would recomend this distro to anyone wanting a fresh start in linux from Windows. Thank you Tom for this video and others. Keep up the good work.

Just been given a Sony Viao P series subnotebook with 1.3GHz single core, 1Gb RAM and a slow 40Gb HDD - was thinking MX Linux was the way to go but your review's got me thinking Q4OS Trinity is well worth a look, especially as it's aimed directly at this type of 12 year old hardware.

Like that Trinity has desktop icons out the box, never found an easy way to add desktop icons or shortcuts to Plasma (I tried on the new Feren Plasma OS and failed!)

Enjoying the vids Tom, keep them coming.

This is awesome. As an EX Windows user (full time Linux user for about 18 months now), all I ever really wanted was to stick with Windows XP. Windows XP was the last time I actually liked Windows. I am installing Q4OS right now.

Hadn't even heard of Trinity Desktop before, but maybe that's exactly something that i need in my life.

Q4OS is one of the few distros I can run on my 16 year old T42 Thinkpad. Still familiarizing myself with it, but it seems very capable overall.

Just gave Q4OS 3.8 a look on my channel a while back. Trinity looks a lot like some of the older Windows versions. Should work well for someone coming over from XP or Vista to Linux.

This is Linux for dummies. Complete setup in 15min. Very fast. Clear instructions. Seems they limited the install of some software. Tried to install program with Gdebi and did not work. Not a train smash. Joe Average won't do what I do. I prefer the Trinity Desktop. Great for the average user new to Linux. Familiar outlay for Win users.

Reminds me of an awesome Windows 2000 :)

Around 12:50 - "It gives us the full list, including the things that are already installed"; I paused the video on that so as I'm typing this I don't know if you actually caught it after you said that, but... if you look at the left panel, lower half, there's "installed" which, unless somehow I'm very, very mistaken, should give only a list of already installed stuff.
(At least, that's the sort of behavior I'd logically expect after having seen something like that in other distro's software managers.)

I wonder if Tom's secret password is "123" or "Tom". :p
I stumbled across Q4OS in a Facebook group and liked the default look of it. For fans of KDE and Trinity it is probably a good option.

I tried it, but as a former Windows user, I always come back to Mint and Zorin. Not easy to get software, other than they give you. Some things seem to be outdated. In some cases it feels slow. For many programs I had to search in Synaptic.

Not sure if this is still of any use to you, but I have installed this on 3 PC's now, with no problems. I tried it first on a standard Virtualbox setup, and it installed fine, I tried it again this morning, BUT I added 256MB VRAM BEFORE I tried to install. All it did was crash the VM. I dropped the VRAM to the "max" of 128MB and it went on into the installer no problems. I think the basic installer might not like the extra video somehow. Maybe the reason why your's was crashing out aswell. NOT a miss match of tools, as I hadn't even got to install, let alone add incorrect tools. VERY odd behaviour, how can having TOO MUCH VRAM be an issue ? Does this have the Coronavirus built in ??

I tried Q4 OS via the Windows installer on two 4 & 5 yr old laptops. The default Gemini version ran well with KDE Plasma. However, on both machines after a few weeks Q4 0S couldnt load up, only booted up Win 10. Rather than fiddle with the boot menu, I installed the same Gemini in Virtual Box, and it runs well. I replaced Win 10 on the other laptop with Linux Mint 20.2. Both run well. K

I would not add other GUIs in Q4OS 3.12 I tried this and the power saving was corrupted. I am still evaluate this for option on older systems not to old though. Yes I made dolphin as the default file manager.

A little heads-up, compositing doesn't work anymore on KDE with OpenGL 2.0 on certain AMD-cards. For the 5700 XT it recently broke. I recommend distro-maintainers to switch that backend for compositor to OpenGL 3.1 if such a card gets detected, or maybe always if OpenGL 3.1 always works. After a round of updates (Arch) all of the sudden compositing quit working (tearing, no transparancy, notification of crash...) and after switching to OpenGL 3.1 it worked fine again.

I am currently running Gecko Linux on a PC with a single core AMD cpu PC with Nvidia integrated graphics, and also running Antix on a Pentium 4 machine with Intel Extreme integrated graphics, does that count as odd systems? Also looking for a Linux distro to run on a Pentium III machine. Tried Antix but X Org didn't know what it was looking at.

I tried it on my Macbook and it has no support for the trackpad but on a desktop I think I'd enjoy it.
