COPA90’s Once In A Lifetime takes an anthropological dive into football teams and their fanbases as they face the prospect of finally winning something.

In this four-part World Cup special, filmmaker Eli Mengem flies to Argentina to follow a country on the brink of ending the 36-year wait for the biggest prize in sport.

What he finds is a story which transcends football, reaching the very soul of a nation that lays itself bare over two fateful weeks. It's a story about Lionel Messi, Argentina and 45 million people looking to reclaim their place in history.

This is the all-angle, on the ground, as it happened, ultimate account of perhaps the greatest football story of our time.

This is Once In A Lifetime: Argentina.

How am I being filled with so much anxiety and love despite knowing all results nearly two years on?! Phenomenal work, from all involved.

As an American with absolutely no skin in the game, I'm so impressed and enthralled by this doc so far. No matter the subject matter, even if it doesn't much matter to me, watching this has been a transcendent experience and so rewarding, culturally. The only problem I have now is how to explain it to my fellow Americans, most of whom don't even realize we'll be hosting the next iteration of the World Cup. Only Christ knows how I suffer...

I am Indian, and I still remember watching the quarterfinal games at 12:30 am. At 3:30 am, after the shootout, I was crying while my entire family was asleep. What a game it was!!!

I watched these matches at the office. I used to smoke back then. I think i finished 3 cigarettes while waiting for additionals, which meant going outside in 40° weather for a smoke.
Now the final? I didnt smoke for the whole day. It was not suspense or stress. I had deposited my trust in these guys.
2 Years later i quit smoking, but i still remember the awful taste of 3 cigarettes worth of stress in this match. What a win.

I must be Argentinian somewhere in my bloodline, the only WC game I didn’t watch was Saudi because i thought it’d be easy. They lost, I watched every game after and they won, after they beat Mexico I vowed not to miss another game.

i experienced the "cabalas" without knowing it was more than a superstition in Argentina, i was reciting the the "Hanuman chalisa" after that 1st half against Mexico in hopes that it'd work & it did. i kept reciting it for every Argentina game from minute 1 to the end till the very last penalty of montiel and it was all worth it.
