The video shows a laser ablation process captured with a high-speed camera and CAVILUX HF laser illumination at 100.000 frames per second. The high frame rates are required due to the fast process itself. In laser ablation, a high energy laser with very small spot size and short pulse duration is shot onto a material surface in order to change the surface properties.

This is amazing, can you give a little bit of description of what we are seeing here? Is this a single pulse? Why is it shaped like a perfect hemisphere with a strange shape at the top? It looks bright at the center, is that the plasma from the ablation event or some sort of optical focusing of the illumination laser...
