3/4 of that yard was nothing but trash. I don't blame that neighbor at all. Who wants to sit at their table and look out at that? She has every right to complain and should have called the city about it until something was done. If they want to live like dirtbags they need to move out in the country.

I have a hoarder parent. I am miserable. It’s a very selfish disease. It’s draining financially. The hoarder just doesn’t give a you know what. No empathy at ALL for his neighbors and what they have to look at. I am a very sweet person, but this ‘disease’ will cause a person so much hate and resentment towards the hoarder. In my case, my dad would just go through old abandoned houses and take everything. Theft. He rationalized it saying no one lived there. Now, in his old age I am trying to clean out a house full of other people’s belongings. I can’t even bring stuff out in the open in fear he stole it from the neighbor. Dreadful. Now my dad has dementia as well so he can’t remember what he stole. Left up to me to deal with....

I bought a house next to an extreme hoarder 18 months ago for about $100K less than appraised value...long story short my house had been inhabited by hoarders as well. I decided to take a chance and try and flip my house anyway. In the last 18 months I've cleared my property and rehabbed it. They've also cleaned up the yard somewhat and put new roof on their house. (I'd like to think I had a little influence on that). I recently put my house on the market and it sold in 3 days for well over asking price. It really does pay to fix up older homes for resale.
