Story 6: Same thing happened to me in Austin. When I moved into a fourplex apartment, I didn't have a city trash can. The person on the phone said there was one for my address but would deliver another one, stressing they would only pick up one on trash day for free. I got my can and set it out. When I got home, every can on the street was empty, except mine. I put it back on the patio and the same thing happened next trash day. Meanwhile, I had been throwing my trash out at work. After the third time this happened, I saw that the trash was different and surmised that it had been emptied and refilled afterward. There were pizza boxes and dirty diapers in the can. I hadn't ordered pizza, nor have I ever changed a baby, let alone bought diapers to do so in my life. Looking through it, I found some junk mail for the address behind me. I dumped their trash out over the fence and called the cops for theft of services. After that, she complained about anything and everything to the Landlord and after about the fourth unsubstantiated claim of my wrongdoing by her, I pointed out that she was running an unlicensed daycare out of her unit. She was gone within a month.
