So todayyy I wanted to find out which store would be the better place to get your makeup done, whether it would be Sephora or MAC, so I went to both on separate days and filmed everything! I work at Sephora and when I do the makeovers I remove any makeup they have on so I’m surprised that they worked on top of what u had on🤔

I’m a makeup artist and both stores should not have let you leave with your own base on!? I would never let someone leave without doing their FULL face. Your makeup should have been removed, then they work their wonders since that is what you are paying for

The eye looks were good! I feel like you should have gone in with a bare face if you wanted them to do a full face. They saw foundation on your face and just took the easy route and figured they didn’t have to do your face since you already had it done

I think MAC wins this one, but I'm still not a huge fan. I get less pissed going to Sephora than I do when I go to MAC. Makeup or no makeup. MAC is an online store for me (cause people's attitudes there suck) while Sephora is a kid in a candy store type of deal, lolol

The only thing I hate about Sephora is that they expect us do the a makeover in 45min that’s impossible for me I always take an hour and a half like sorry my Client booked with me for a reason and she’s gone walk out looking bomb. It’s annoying when managers are in your ear constantly telling you your over your time I just take my ear piece off

I worked at Mac for 5 years. We are not encouraged to do long makeovers. My location in New York was always so busy, sometimes my manager would wait for me to walk away to grab a product and she would silently tell me to hurry up. We are also told to stop and help other customer as well (which you said your makeup artist did). That being said, when a customer would come in with makeup and had an appointment I would still give them a wipe to remove their makeup, but who knows how pressed for time these artists were.

I second a comment below me. I work at Sephora as well and we always take off the makeup a client has on when they come in. If we have skincare brands there I will have them skin prep every single client I have. Unless the client says other wise. Very surprised they didn't take it off or even offered to remove it or skin prep.

The placement of glitter and eyelook was better at SEPHORA.She could of put a little under the eye but it looks cleaner and lifting the eye without:)

My mom spent $400 at mac and they offered to do their makeup for free and she said yes and it came out good lol i think if you spend $60 or more its free if not then you just pay $60

Kind of upsetting to see the Sephora artist not even remove your makeup. We are all trained to prep the skin with the correct products, it’s a part of our sales! Also, using technology throughout the service like our color IQ and DMG’s are very heavily pushed. Typically the time range for a custom makeover is a 60 minute time slot, she just seemed like she rushed and didn’t care to do her proper steps. Didn’t look like the location you were at was too busy!

To be honest both places did pretty bad. The makeup you did yourself at home looks way better. And the fact that they didn't even re-apply your foundation and do your whole face is horrendous bearing in mind you were paying them (even by buying products it's still paying them).
