This winter I was making the transition from being a person with a debilitating disease to being one able to return to the working world. Learning about the grandness of the universe and all of it's unknowns helped mine feel very small. Yet, compared to other channels your hopefulness and enthusiasm in describing the unknown helped me feel more at peace with exploring mine.

I went from being unsure if I would ever be stable enough to work again, to finishing a full 40 hour week off the back of a recent promotion. Even now I still have stress like figuring out how to get my tens of thousands of dollars a month of medication paid for with private insurance, yet that suddenly becomes a small concern against the mystery of jets spurting back to life from a zombie black hole.

You are a wonderful person and keep making this content showing us the wonder in all that is bigger than we can even comprehend.

Depending on speed and how sharp the path of a star’s orbit past the black hole, perhaps the tidal effects are large enough that decent amounts of gas are ripped off and sent far away, where their return path brings them back into contact with the black hole months or even years later?
