Buoyancy Control and Basic Scuba Skills
Показать описание
The foundation of all scuba skills for a diver is buoyancy. Buoyancy together with balance, trim, and propulsion. This is how you stay still in the water column. Without this ability, you are just a human being underwater with expensive equipment, but you’re not a diver.
A diver has balance and control and they build their skill set on top of that control. This is how you become a confident diver.
Although some students are taught to kneel on the bottom and pivot from their fin tips, others are shown how to hover in the Buddha position, and some learn to be flat and horizontal but still have a perpetual forward motion that they use to really control their buoyancy.
Staying still and in one place is how you first establish true buoyancy control. This Resting Trim which is calm, controlled and relaxed will be the foundation to put all of your OW skills on top of.
The first way we start to tax our buoyancy control is the basic skills from any scuba class, like reg removal, mask clears, and everything else that builds it’s way up to team skills with another diver.
It takes a lot of work and patience to develop the breath control and mental awareness to achieve a masters level of buoyancy control. And the hard work never ends. A true master is always working to improve their craft every time they enter the water.
The divers in this video are already certified but are committed to diving. They are putting in the extra work to make their diving artful. As they continue to improve their breathing and balance, their ability and confidence grows.
