Buoyancy Control ** THINK and DIVE LIKE A FISH

Yes, sounds a little strange but think about how we position ourselves on land using friction and gravity. These are two things we really are not able to use underwater.

Hey that's why NASA uses deep pools to help train Astronauts for space flights.

Training Scuba Divers to think and position themselves like Fish helps them adapt easier to the underwater world.

Great video. Yes, think like a fish. I'm going to train my open water students to think like a fish.

Thank you Bob, that was a great analogy for buoyancy. so many times, especially with new divers, the belief is that buoyancy is controlled by the BC. Hopefully this video will help them realize that your breathing and weighting is 95% of buoyancy control.

I dive with 4 pounds, but I started with 18! Or at least I did when I was diving - I need to get back in the water! I remember when I first understood this concept - what a world opened up when I dropped all that lead! Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the great information! I am in the middle of my ow certification and struggling with buoyancy. I am a bigger guy and need to control my breathing better. I really enjoy all of your videos. Please keep up the great content!

I think it is a very bad habit to teach people how to dive by making them sink to the bottom and do exercices. It should be taught to be neutral buoyancy before anything else and to do all the exercices in the neutral buoyancy position. Nobody having an issue with his mask is going to sink to the bottom first and then empty it, ever!!
