Wildfires in California, Oregon blaze as temperatures spike

Multiple states in the West are still reeling from active fires or the devastation from wildfire events in 2024. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, Oregon and Colorado have already endured wildfires this year and so far, more than 3 million acres of land have been scorched. CBS News' Jonathan Vigliotti reports.

Most wildfires are not "wild", which is a misnomer--these fires are usually started by people. Wish the media would distinguish actual wildfires and these fires by calling ones caused by people as "human-caused fires".

The most beautiful piece of public lands in E. Oregon just went up in flames. Damn, but it was gorgeous. I've put my boots down on nearly all of the lands they're now calling the Durkee Fire. I can't describe the sadness I'm feeling, knowing that it's gone.

spend the money reimbursing homes lost, but give the mountains back, remove toxic materials, crush the foundations and pavements, remove electrical, keep the water. youll have water to drink, food to eat, but no air to breathe. :\

Thank you for sharing this information. I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea Nocturnal Hypoxemia due to Emphysema, and I have been staying indoors for the past few days here in Penrose, Colorado. I have a few pictures, but I won't take anymore due to the air quality here. I still smell the smoke indoors. So yes, the air quality is bad for me. I have been praying for the states that the fires are put out Very soon. Hope the couple gets caught and no more fires they won't be able to a Safe and Blessed day 🙏♥️😔♥️🙏

Why they don't grazing the Gras there by livestock? I mean you know what is dangerous (the dry Gras) and than just sitting there and do nothing. Maybe some areas could be tested if this will work
