This week's workout is what's called a tempo run or a threshold run. Every Wednesday you'll learn a new workout you can add to your routine to help you become Fit After Forty.

The tempo workout is designed to build your endurance. You train your body to go longer at a given pace. It's supposed to be comfortably hard and is a key ingredient in many training plans for everything from 5k to the full marathon.
