I had the privilege to listen to this amazing truth in person. I was in awe the whole time as to the amazing Glory of Christ and what He did for His people. I left from this sermon more convinced in my whole life that the reformed view of salvation is the correct interpretation of the Bible. Fantastic sermon! God bless.

The question of soverieignty is the number #1 barrier for so many coming to the Lord. In our natural hearts, we want to be our own god.

It is funny that we call this Calvinism, yet it is the gospel given by Christ and through the Holy Spirit. It is the message proclaimed by Peter, James, John and Paul. It is the message of God's Sovereignty that caused me to quit fighting with my brothers and sisters and just start speaking the truth. Thank you Mike, I love your preaching.

This doctrine once terrified me to the core. While many tried to convince me that I was saved, I didn’t believe it. I saw and read what saved souls looked like, and I wasn’t one of them. Because I know that choice laid in God’s hands alone. Looking back on the time I was enabled to believe in God’s sovereign grace through faith in the atoning work of Christ, I see that those fears prodded me along ‘til I came to Him by faith.

Thank you Mike for a wonderful message. I did believe in the sovereignty of God in redemption. But your explanation was really helpful.

Christ knew us before the foundation of the world. What believers must understand is that limited atonement is biblical and just. We are are sinners headed to hell who deserve that punishment, but by the Grace and mercy of God, sending His son to pay for the sins of all the elect throughout history who would believe and repent, and out His Grace and mercy and power on display through Us as His witnesses. And not even because any of are special and should become arrogant, but recognizing that we are sinners who have been saved merely by Gods soverign Grace and to proclaim the gospel, as it is not our buisness to know who the elect are, that’s for God to know only

Ephesians 5:25-27 – “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her (cf. John 10:11), so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.”

It doesn't say that Christ loved and gave Himself up for absolutely everyone without exception, but ONLY the church - the groom purchases only His bride (Cf. Genesis 34:12). This accords well with His teaching in John 17 where He doesn't even pray for the world, but only for those whom the Father has given to Him out of the world (cf. John 6:44).

Even Paul recognized that his own striving was for the sake of the elect, that they may obtain salvation (2 Timothy 2:10). When he writes to Titus, he declares that he is “a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of God’s elect” (Titus 1:1). He makes no mention of working for those who are not elect, nor does he say that the non-elect can even have faith. In fact, in the following verse (2 Timothy 2:11), he says: “if we died with Him, we will also live with Him.” Here in this “if/then” statement, he is teaching the particular and definite nature of the atonement (Cf. Colossians 2:14) in order that he might demonstrate that his own striving is not in vain, that if Jesus died for an individual, that individual will most assuredly be saved (Cf. Romans 6:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:10); therefore he declares his duty to them only to bring them to faith. This accords precisely to what Jesus taught, that He laid His life down for the sheep (John 10:15), that the sheep are His people whom He came to save from their sins (Matthew 1:21), and that it is only the sheep who will believe (John 10:26).

*No mention is made in Ephesians 5:25-27 of a love of Christ or a death of Christ for that which is not His bride, those who are not the true church which is sanctified by God's cleansing Word (Ephesians 5:26, John 17:17-19) and presented spotless at the last day (Ephesians 5:27). If Christ did actually love and die for absolutely everyone without exception (which necessarily would include the false church), then Christ "loved the church AND the false church, and gave himself up for them." Consequently, because husbands are commanded to imitate Christ, they would have to love and give themselves up for both their wives and whores even as Christ loves His bride and a whore, the false church, and gave Himself up for them.*

The concept of a universal atonement turns both God and men into philanderers.

I can hear all the Self Determinists now, the Leighton Flowers and like kind, saying "I am the Determiner, I am autonomous, I could have said no to Gods grace (although he said he didn't), I used the power of my imaginary autonomous free will to decide whether or not I made mySelf the Bride of Christ, and my imaginary autonomous free wills ability to make the right choice to believe made me one of Christs Sheep." "I thank God for me, my choice that saved me, and...oh...also, with a little assistance from Gods grace."

Yes, praise God, ALL Gods elect will be justified, sanctified, and ultimately glorified by the effectual power of Gods grace through the works, faith, and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Regeneration preceeds receiving the salvific faith (Seed of Abraham) of Jesus Christ.

I find it remarkable that God chose to reveal these truths to sinful man. He could easily have recorded in His
word; " God saves sinners". He knew the deeper machinations of How He precisely accomplishes salvation would be offensive to some; He would be called "unloving" or "unfair" . Knowing Jesus actually SAVED and not merely "made salvation possible" has caused my love and esteem for Him greatly increase.
