Hear from Belmont University Vice President of Hope, Unity and Belonging Dr. D'Angelo Taylor and Human Resources Generalist Andrea McClain as they talk about the important history of Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger issued General Order No. 3 in Galveston, Texas, to inform the people of Texas that all enslaved people were free. This day became known as “Juneteenth,” or Freedom Day.

Thank you so much, Belmont, for posting this. One of the most impactful individuals from my time at Belmont University was meeting Andrea McClain. She has taught me so much over the years, and my life is truly all the richer through our paths crossing. You have one incredible gem in your community in this individual.
