My dad was a guard there from 1956 until 1962... I was born at the old French hospital in SF and lived on the island with my mom and dad. I honestly don't remember very much as I was only two years old when my dad got transferred. But I still have lots of pictures....

Just came from alacatraz. William Baker now works at the bookstore at Alcatraz. He is actually a pretty sweet guy. It’s like, for a moment, you wouldn’t think of him as a former prisoner.
