The Best Listening Experience I ever had PLUS 2 New Albums

My stereo headboard was an awesome listening experience (at least to my 16 year old, less discriminating ears), but it's downfall was that it was too restrictive. When laying flat on my back with my head in the box, I couldn't move around. That's the primary reason why I abandoned it, but I also got itchy to build something new with those speakers.
While cheap coax car speakers probably couldn't even be in the same building with audiophile quality gear, they sounded pretty darn good in that headboard. Again, though, I was at most 17 at the time and my hearing was still untouched by the 30+ years of construction noise I used to damage it. And being only human and subject to bias, whatever I made almost always sounded good to me.

New music! Yes, two new CDs have arrived and my budget has been expanded because I successfully used clickbait to entice a few more of my subscribers to watch one of my excellent videos. I should disclose that the inflated budget has already been blown and I should have some new disks in hand shortly.
This time two from Supertramp: "Crime Of The Century" and "Even In The Quietest Moments". Both are loaded with great songs that are perfectly recorded, arranged and mixed.

I just finished listening to this album after you showed it and so many memories of going to Ryerson and coming home to the house I shared with 7 or 8 other guys on Brunswick Avenue.

Great little story, at the age of 17 I build a small geodesic dome out of cardboars encompassing two speaker with their backs on the floor and my head inbetween, much your setup the sound was amazing.
Maybe I should build that again.

I appreciate the speaker info on your videos. Often far more than I want to know about them... I'm the guy that just put Monoprice in wall speakers in his shop and is perfectly happy with them... I can't hear allot of what the audiophiles rant and rave about so anything better than a sound bar and I'm happy.

Kraco ! Sure. We sold them at Walmart when I was a kid working there after school in 77.

Even in the Quietest Moments is also a very special album from my late teens.

Absolutely love Supertramp. Got Crime of the Century and Even in the Quietest Moments. Also love Crisis? What Crisis?, Breakfast in America and Paris.

My first secretive, nocturnal, music listening was done with a cheap cassette tape recorder, one earpiece and 'Ram' by Paul McCartney & Wings. Quality was an issue but it was so exciting to listen to music in bed it made everything acceptable. Now it's ear buds and Spotify, listening to 'our' music.
Best Wishes, B.

John, if you haven't already, you should investigate an ambiophonic setup. No special speakers, just relatively specific speaker placement and some digital processing. Creates the most realistic soundstage you will ever hear, short of being there live. I have demo'd it for dozens of people and they are all simply astonished by it. If you are intent on having a true "ideal listening room", ambiophonics can't be beat for its simplicity, cost effectiveness and lifelike results. Especially with live recordings.

Supertramp... Crime of the Century. alway listened as an album. Certain Dire Straits would qualify also. Love over Gold.

I did this back in 1969 with a stereo that the speakers attached to the unit with hinges, and I would put my head between them and listen. So long

Had both those albums. Great from start to finish. Roll another fatty and put on the tunes...well, back then anyways.

A great album to listen to first to experience your "Head Banger" system. Few albums are worthy: Peter Frampton Live and Graceland to name a couple.

Both great albums, John. We have very similar tastes. Tangerine Dream?

Bate the click responsibly and enjoy the benefits. Abuse the click with too much bate, and your long term benifits will be fleeting. So become a master bater of the click...

100% with you on supertramp's best album. Sadly after "even in quietest moments" it went down hill sharply for the band, at least for me.

John, do you sell your completed speakers? I build and am trying to sell Troels Gravesen creations in the USA. I'd love to talk to you about your speaker sales experience :D :D
