I had the A7iii shutter issue. Sony tried to screw me over and I was still in the warranty since I pre ordered it. Luckily B&H came through and got on their ass and it got fixed.

My a7iii shutter broke in the middle of a wedding for me. It happened literally less than a week after my 1 year warranty finished. Luckily, I contacted the authorized repair facility and they were willing to service it and replace the shutter since it was only a week after the warranty finished but I don't know if or when my shutter will break again now...

When D600 had oil spots and even though Nikon recalled and repaired for free...a lot of people for years still dreaded about it.

It's great that Canon are announcing new lenses but here in the UK most RF lenses are not in stock anywhere so what is the point of new lenses?

Hmmm.... I recall a few years ago Nikon issued a service advisory for my D750 due to a minor shutter issue. They gave me a free shipping label and I shipped it in for a free fix. I got it back a few weeks later. Maybe focus isn't their forte but at least there is good customer service

I am not a Pentax shooter but I respect their concept of cameras. You may not find it attractive, but I think ridiculing it is not what Pentax deserves.

On the Sony lawsuit shutter issue, the argument seems to make little sense to me. First, the failure points for ANY camera are estimates and/or averages. That means some will fail earlier, some will fail much later. Most companies probably publish numbers that are low so that they look better, but that doesn't mean they're still anything other than an estimate.

The other side, that the failure point is outside the 1-year warranty, that's going to depend completely on the user. Some photographers may hit 100k, 200k, more in a matter of 6-7 months. Some might take 10 years to get there. Unless the demand that that they change their warranty to a range of shutter actuations (i.e. replacement for any shutter failure under 200, 000, for example), then this argument won't hold water. It's just way too variable.

I hadn't realized the Pentax had gone to that price point. Are they fools?? I can see getting a Pentax 645 or so, but not anything as DX.

You can make fun of Pentax, that's ok. Yes, Pentax is a bit behind compared to other brands, BUT....Producing an image is all about getting light on to the sensor, with or without a mirror, right? And with all the fine glass Pentax has produced over the last 50 years that light can be directed pretty well. A camera doesn't have to be top notch with all the bells and whistles. Ok, for some who know nothing about taking pictures, it might be a necessity. I'm sure the K3 III will do just fine and will surprise many sceptics.

Got a request for you please. Been seeing lots of comments on how good the Canon EOS R5/R6 are however a query has been raised by my fellow Aviation photographers and setting for the R6/R5 to suit. Everyone is raving about Focus tracking for humans and animals but the jury is currently out regarding aviation? Can you hlep/advise?
