Those of you commenting "who is she" needs to open your eyes a bit and watch more sport. Keeley has been top two in the 800m for several years now and absolutely crucifying the rest of Europe in this event. She finally gets gold in the Olympics and you lot act like she's achieved nothing cause she's not a bloke. Completely deserved. Incredible athlete and excited to support her for many more years to come.

I've just googled her and i have to say that winning the gold medal is an amazing achievement. The issue is that i wouldn't know her if i fell over her. That is no critisism of her and you can't know everyone, but this just shows how the media landscape is so fractured and multichannel now that there are no sports personalities any more. In the 80s 90s and 2000s my mum and dad would know the winners and they didn't exactly have their fingers on the pulse. So many institutions now are basically just preserved because they have always been on TV. They are not even a shadow of the shows they used to be. Why do they continue? It is a legacy award from a bygone era.

3 female hosts and a female winner....i guess we have achieved true equality.

Crazy how far the show has fallen in popularity…well deserved win, all the same!

How is the bbc still going after scandal after scandal?

It amazing how many people are quite happy to show their ignorance.

Were Clare Balding and Gabby Logan supposed to be Rod Hull and Emu ?

I honestly don't know what else Sarah Storey can do? She won 3 gold medals this year, and she's won 30 Paralympic medals in her career, including 19 golds. She's leagues ahead of everyone else in that list.

Keely has been in the media A LOT since the Tokyo olympics, from there she has achieved incredible things on and off the track, well deserved win. All of you showing so much negativity she’s a young girl sort yourselves out

Congratulations to Keely a worthy winner. Still shocked that Tom Pidcock didn't make the final 6, his gold medal was the most exciting race, made up 30 sec, had a puncture and lost another 30 seconds but made the time up in the final stages beating the French cyclist.

Missed it. It used to be a big deal on a Sunday evening. Now it’s lost in a midweek slot. Didn’t know it was on. Somehow it was better in an intimate studio setting. With Des Lynam presenting of course.

I don’t get why so many people are annoyed about the three female hosts - I get Alex Scott (I don’t think she’s a very good host) but Gabby Logan and Clare balding are quality

Can’t believe people still see this as an achievement.

Over the moon that Littler didn't win.
Darts isn't even a proper sport.

Luke Littler: I change the sport
Alex Scot: You are so modest

Why does the BBC employ such stupid and clueless people?

Joe Root - considered possibly greatest British batsman of all time, He holds the highest run score ever for England. And he is overlooked for this one-time medalist. Why?

It was no surprise to me that Keely was the winner; she has been amazing these last couple of years, big congratulations to her. Her only regret is if she looks back at the show was the dress she wore, it was a sports show not a dinner and date show. BBC Sports Personality of the Year should be shelved now as this was by far the worst I have ever seen. I bet half of the TV audiences turned over channels till the end to see the result only.
