Looking at upgrading your CPU soon, but want to future-proof your big purchase for DirectX 12? In this video, we run some benchmarks on the Early Access DX12 title Ashes of the Singularity to see how many cores – and threads – you'll want at a minimum to best take advantage of DirectX technology in the next generation of hardware and gaming.

I'm glad to see tech channels actually answering real questions that matter. Will subscribe.
Also what is your testbench there?

Just found this channel.. You guys deserve a lot more subs... Good luck..

Great stuff. Anyway to answer this question today with similar benchmark? We have more cores option today (and more time on Dx12) and with the upcoming consoles both having 8C/8T or 8C/16T available, I'd be very curious to see where 6 Cores CPU stand in this 2020 landscape.

This video is actually interesting now with the arrival of Ryzen 7. But it's all up to the developers to implement the support for more cores in the games with DX12.

Another Great Video. Also is your arm ok ?

One thing, it would be nice to see what CPU you used to get your graph there, did you just lock some cores on a 5960x? Please mention the hardware for us super nerds, it would be also nice to know the whole testbench's specs in a box on screen when you start to talk about results.

What was the clock speed of the various CPU's tried? Also which CPU did you use for 8 cores 8 threads?

Can you guys provide a short list of 8 Core, 8 Thread CPU's from both Intel and AMD?

I have an 8-core FX-8320 and a EVGA GTX 960 SC 2GB card... not sure how DX12 will perform, since there really isn't any high end DX12 games out there yet.

Nice video. I will go Googling for some DX12 benchmarks that include a 9700k to make myself feel better about spending a small fortune on a cpu.

Hey do you test it in amd 8350 ? it would be nice DX12 8350 vs core i 7

hi what are you thinking of my specs :

i7 3770K 4cores/8threads
GTX 970
8GB DDR3

could I be fine and benefit gaming performance gain, upgrading from windows 7 directx 11 to windows 10 direct12 ?

is my cpu Ivy Bridge at recomended level or its better to upgrade to Haswell?

thanks nice vid !

Great video man! I have a 5820k and I'm becoming very annoyed by how most of my games are DX11 and only use around 30% of my CPU. I hope more games use DX12 in the future :)

Now try this with a dual xeon setup =P,

but seriously at wich point did the benchmark in it self was bottlenecked by the GPU ????

but the differences appear only when cpu is bounded right?

Would the AMD 8 core processors be any good? I have a FX-4100 3.6Ghz and was looking to possibly upgrade to a FX8320E. Is it worth?

My full system right now:
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit | Windows 7 32 Bit (Dual booted)
PSU: Case 500W (I will be upgrading the an EVGA 80+ Bronze 500W asap)
MB: Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 (AM3+)
CPU: FX4100 3.6Ghz with stock cooler
GPU: MSI GTX 960 2G
RAM: Patriot 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333Mhz
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7400RPM

is mantle(vulkan) the same as dx12? do they conflict with each other?

I have an FX-8350 and a GTX 760 FTW 4GB, I'm not sure if going watercooled and overcloking my CPU and GPU had be enough for me to be able to play DX12 games maxed out at 1080p. I think I should do that then just get a better GPU down the road, I'm honestly waiting waiting for a newer version of Titan X or AMD top of the line GPU. I'm buying whatever is the best GPU out there when I upgrade.

Question....

Could the likes of dx12 and Vulkan, theoretically revive the dual-CPU Mobo's?
It's supposed to be direct access to the hardware right?
So does that also apply to multiple CPU's?

A follow up question would be this...

If yes, could either be implemented into rendering programs like C4D/Modo/3ds etc., or is it just for gaming use?
