Too fast for my banana: 2023 Kia EV6 GT review

Was Kia wise to give its EV6 family SUV the full 577hp? Do we really need a Kia that does 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds? I'm not sure really, but I'm quite glad the EV6 GT exists. Join me for a walkaround and driving review of this Korean hot rod, when we'll try to work out if it's really worth £62,000...

You can drive it in normal mode most of the time and it’s a superbly comfortable, refined car, then flick the GT button and it’s transformed into a monster!

It’s a brilliant way to have both things in one car. The manual seats are really comfortable. And as my wife never drives the car I don’t miss the unnecessary weight of electric adjustment.

I’ve done 11, 000 miles in mine and absolutely nothing has gone wrong, no rattles, it feels impressively well built.

I used to drive big German V8 coupes for my daily drive and this is so much better.

The initial acceleration makes my BAC Mono feel slow, really🤣

Totally agree the regular car would probably be the better choice for most people (in the same way that an RS6 really makes no sense) but it’s nice to have the choice,

Great review. Very informative and entertaining. Extremely disappointing that the seats aren’t electronically adjustable or cooled. They really should be in this class at this price.

Hello Tim, Great review yes very fast and a high price to pay not having power seats for me that would be a no buy . I bought a Genesis GV 60 a year ago and I cant fault that car I would buy another in a heartbeat. Kia, Hyundai and Genesis are leading the EV world at the moment . Thank you .

Has anybody stopped to wonder what will happen to our roads and crumbling bridges (many of which have been around since the 1960s) once we’re all driving around in 2.2 tonne family cars? That’s the same weight as my C140 600 Mercedes. Back in the day, Merc were lambasted for building such leviathans. Now it’s accepted. I don’t get it.

Exceptional car. Albert Biernman who was the Bmw M divisons master really has brought true sporting heritage to hyundai kia. First the Stinger. Amazing then this insane ev6 which for the price and segment nothing competes. R n D from Rimmac. And soon the hyundai ioniq 5 N. Kia hyundai are killing it. Haters have no idea.

Stupid over-powered car with absolutely no sporting heritage. The ultimate contradiction in terms "expensive electric car with manual controls for the seating"! The only good thing is that the banana did not shoot up your left nostril; that would have ruined your day and the video!
