I’ve never had Chacos but I’ve had many Tevas. And I love the Tevas with a lot of velcros because I love how tight I can get them so my feet won’t slide when I go hiking. There are many types of Tevas. The most rugged one, example the Terra Fi or Hurricane type, are best for hiking. The original ones are softer on the foot and great for casual wear or just around the camp.

Great review, I need them for hiking so i guess Chaco is the winner!

tevas are more lightweight basic sandals.
chacos are more technically advanced and supportive sandals.

I have two pairs of Chacos, one with a toe strap and one without. Got the toe strap first and then bought the one without. Had them for many years BUT never felt 100% happy with them. 3 reasons: the strap adjustment is frustrating, BLISTERS from just walking in them even after years of use, and the buckle is so uncomfortable. The HUGE buckle hurts if you are sporty like doing white water rafting, they will dig into your foot badly. Also, I cut my toe in them once from slipping on a rock so never fully trusted them after that day. I got the universal tevas about a year ago and I have no problems with them other than I don’t fully trust the grip but I’ve never slipped in them.

I walk a lot and I wanted more foot support so living in NYC I need comfort will be looking for Teva Hurricane at DSW which is only one block away. So hopefully they will feel great.

I went with Tevas. But I got a thicker sole version. They seem to fit my flat feet better. Chacos kinda hurt my feet.

Very good review. I have chacos but am looking at maybe getting some Tevas as well.

I had chacos but they hurt my feet. I have worn tevas before. They’re very comfortable.

You can get chaco without a toe strap, also you can pull the straps tight enough that the toe loop will lay flat. The teva hurricane or terra fi would be a closer sandal than the one you have. In my experience chaco had far better arch support and I'd way more durable than teva.

Teva's originals are comfy. I could go all day wearing em. Adjusting em to my liking. I'm thinking to chacos... But debating on getting the teva's hurricane instead since I love the open toes and not the toe wrap... But idk...

Chacos are very well made shoes but the sole is really unusual, it just doesn't fit my foot correctly. All my Tevas feel fantastic.

It really comes down to whether or not you like Chaco's foot bed.
I, and many others find that Chaco's have way too high of an arch and too much of a heel/toe drop.
I currently have 3 pairs of Tevas and they all have over 1000 miles on them. I've hiked, floated, swam and even run in them. When I'm on the trail, I want to feel the trail.

I was sold on Tevas and thought 4 hrs was a good day … But having Chacos on my feet for 10-12 hrs in virtually ALL trail / water / gravel / pavement conditions proves beyond a shadow that Chacos are far superior. I can actually run and do martial arts in these .

I just got my Tevas. I went with them cause they are cheaper and I hear more comfortable. Had I heard Chacos were more comfy then I would have paid the extra money. But if they feel like Birkenstocks or something...that is pretty uncomfortable to me! I can't wear those things.

Bedrock sandals are far superior to either of these!

Chacos > Tevas. Why? While i admit it does take a second to break them in but after they're like clouds. They are so high quality and you can get them re-strapped. Its a very high quality shoe. I paid $50 for tevas, and honestly i would've been better off getting the knock offs from Walmart. They are comfy for just everyday wear, but you can feel everything when walking. They just aren't worth the $50 price point. Where as chacos feel more secure, high quality and just over all are better shoes.
