I love how Gayle says that we need to not be uncomfortable and giggle (even though they tried to steer it that way). This was taken seriously and celebrating a genre I have read for over 30 years

Basically, the publishing houses and the literati ignored this genre, until the rest of the publishing industry tanked, even though it was already chief driver of sales.
Still, it good to see that publishing houses are finally using some of their marketing budgeto promote their biggest earners. This is the 2nd or 3rd piece on Romance novels I've seen on a major news outlet in the last month.

I have zero romance in my life, but I do like a good love story. I don't think it's about wanting or even needing a man. We want the opposite of what we are experiencing in real life. So, it's def an escape.
