Zach Edey is Better Than We Thought

Zach Edey was a forced to be reckoned with at Purdue. And so far in the NBA Pre Season he's looked like a promising Rookie for the Memphis Grizzlies. While potentially being a great piece to have along side Ja Morant.

He pushed around legit NBA centers like Myles Turner, Nicola Vucevic & Walker Kesler. Just like when Edey was in college, nobody can guard him 1 on 1. So we'll see how he performs under pressure when he's double teamed. If he can make the right decisions, the Grizzlies are a team to be reckoned with.

I wouldnt be surprised if hes a top 20 center this year in year 1. So many good young centers in the league rn its crazy

he actually moves very well for a 7'4 dude. He is not the fastest but the body coordination is quite good..he can still develop his game and be more effective especially on the post all in all It was an impressive showing for him to be able to finish inside the paint hope he can polish that post game which will take him to another level

He was criminally underrated, shoulda gone top 3. Been saying this since before the draft

I'm not surprised at all. No one in college can stop him even triple teaming the beast. Why would it change in the NBA?

He was this good the last 2 years in college. People who “know ball” are trying to redeem themselves before it’s too late lol. Purdue fans knew this all along.

Idk why people keep on doubting Memphis' scouting chops. They literally scouted Ja Morant.

There's a term in boxing "smart feet." Knowing how to move from your base first, understanding movement, distance, range, being able to shuffle and slide and swivel and pivot to cover distance. Not getting into the habit of overstepping or understepping, depending on the situation. The best boxers have smart definitely has smart feet for someone his size. Idk how he got the "lumbering" tag, but it's clearly a false narrative. The kid can move in a tight space and he's spatially aware.

I'm not surprised by this at all. Edey's been proving his ridiculous haters wrong for years now, so this is just par for the course.

Everyone who really watched him play in college knew he was WAY better than the "experts" (stupid cliche people) were predicting. He's way faster and quicker than the lazy analysts assumed. He is playing his SEVENTH year this year, he's getting better every year. This year he's going to make the superstars already on the Grizzlies even better. He's a rookie, he'll be a rookie, but COUNT on him being better next year. And the next. And so on.

I mean yeah we don’t know how he can hang with a Luka, but honestly who can ?? He made gobert (dpoy) look silly so I’m not to worried about edey

Not surprised in the least. Happy he is exceeding expectations though

I feel like he'll develop counter moves (ie. use his left hand more) once he establishes his dominance with his dominant hand
