Using indoor plants in aquariums is such an underrated thing in the hobby. I really recommend anyone with the space and lighting to try this out. I've kept aquariums like this for many years- nitrate is never a problem-- except sometimes you need to add nitrogen for the plants if your aquarium doesn't have a lot of fish. The house plants will guzzle the nitrogen and will show deficiency clearly if they aren't getting enough!

yes, a great video i was looking for! besides the perfect production quality (audio, voice, post, lighting) it has lovely examples and a clear to follow guide. a super simple plant i also keep in this way (even in a passive low tech aq) is epipremnum aureum, it can grow many meters long out of very small AQs, definitely great to make small flats look junglish!

I have Pothos, Lucky Bamboo, Umbrella Plant and Gold Ribbon currently adorning the tops of my 55 gal aquarium. I just realized through your video that one of my potted house plants may do significantly better in my tank, so I’m going to hop on that. Thank you!

I find it so fascinating that over watering a potted plant kills it but this method many thrive. I currently have an orchid in water culture method.

I love it! And yeah its crazy seeing what you can grow in hydroponics.
The craziest thing I've grown was a maple tree seed that I sprouted on a patch of moss, was lovely while I had it but I had to get rid of it because the nutrient drain on the tank was too high.

Hello. I just happened upon this video looking for a habitat for my Seven-Stripe Cichlids. I just love this video and concept. I am in my 70s and only 15 months into Fish Keeping. I will go out tomorrow and look for a taller Driftwood to anchor a few Plants to.
