Donald Trump Jr pays respects to 'brave firefighter’ killed in assassination attempt

Donald Trump Jr says the assassination attempt on his father’s life resulted in the death of an “American hero” when firefighter Corey Comperatore was struck.

Corey Comperatore was gunned down by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as he aimed his AR rifle at the former president, with two others also injured in the attack over the weekend.

“On a field in Butler, Pennsylvania, a brave firefighter died,” he said.

“We wish that he were with us tonight but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family, his community and the nation that he loved.”
