In this woodworking tool overview video, I'll be doing a Bosch router table overview on the Bosch RA1181 router table and the Bosch 1617EVSPK. This kit also comes with the Bosch RA1166 plunge router base. Overall, buying all of these together seems like an impressive deal. I'm very excited to bring this tool to my small woodworking shop. A router table can open up lots of options and change the way you build your woodworking projects.

My plan is to leave the router permanently installed in the table unless I have something I can only do with a plunge router. Otherwise, I'll still be using my Ridgid trim router for a lot of things.

Thank you for that, I have been pondering for ages with what to buy as a router table, and you have definitely helped me decide what way to go. I too will be looking into buying the Bosch Router Table. Keep up the great work Travis, I always look forward to seeing your content. Take care. Love and Respect from North London UK.

7yrs ago For 499.99 I got the full size kreg tool 24 X 36 router table (already had the Bosch 1617 router) still going g strong and glad I got it. but for a benchtop router table the Bosch is one of the best ones out there next to the kreg tool benchtop router table.

I also thought the table legs were metal when i bought it and i was really disappointed to find out that they’re just hard plastic.

Is your table perfectly flush? I got my mounting insert flush with the table but the table top still seems to dip at the edges rather than being totally square all the way across. That was an annoyance.

The power cable thing is totally annoying as well! I was thinking of drilling a hole in the side and now i just may.

Lastly, it’s cool that you can adjust the fence so freely, but it’s a little annoying that there are no detents or easy ways to square it up somehow, and that i don’t think the table comes with a pin for safer fenceless template routing. That would have been nice.

Please post the video on how to adjust the plate in more detail. Id be interested in figuring out how you got the lip issue taken care of

Is this kit holding up good after a year or so of use? Would you still buy it or would you make an enclosed router table if you could do it all over again?

Great stuff! I'm assembling mine today! Merry Christmas!

the starter pin is used for curves pieces of wood, where you don't use the fence.

Good table, sort of wish the router mounting plate was removable like the one on their other table, the 1141. But it's a small gripe. I am amazed at how much nicer a big table is even for small jobs (about twice as big as the Craftsman router table this thing replaced). If you don't have them, a set of the offset wrenches make bit changes easier. BTW you can buy an extra fixed base and permanently remove the handles for more space under the table. I am going to dedicate one of my 1617's to the table and cut the cord to the just right length. I'll also use the cut off length as an extension cord after I add a female plug to the cut end (move the ferrite coil). I passed the table cord around the leg rather that drill a hole, if you drill a hole size it for a cord clamp or grommet.

Just bought this exact setup a week ago. I was only able to get two screws lined up to attach router to plate, how about you?

Strait forward….took me 3 hours because directions were confusing especially in regards to the screws constantly had to check to see which screw was which.

2:00 Anybody else hesitant to take router advice from someone who doesn’t know what a starter pin is, and won’t open the manual to find out?

what's the miter rail guide dimension? i think you need to buy a miter gauge for this?

Table is nice, but the red throat plate inserts are not flush with the mounting plate... maybe 1/16 inch dip, which is a problem.

I found one annoying thing about this router table I don't know how they get around yet. The screws that mount the table to the legs tend to stick out of the table a bit which makes routing larger pieces inconvenient. For example, I needed to cut tongue in the cabinet doors for the micro-shaker style, and these protruding bolts stand in the way making tongue inconsistent. I will either have to buy flatter bolts that do not stick out or maybe I installed those incorrectly, so they didn't sink enough.

It looks like a toy that is a miniaturized and plastic copy of a real tool

Seriously…every fing video of assembling this skips over attaching the featherboards. So stupid. You edited out the only 5 seconds I need. The spacers provided just fall right out of the t-slots. And literally every single video about this table just skips over it.
