We go hands-on with the new PlayStation 5 Pro, checking out the differences in supported games between their standard and Performance Pro modes. What does the extra GPU clock speed and PSSR upscaling actually mean for gameplay? And even if the promises of no-compromise performance is delivered, why does the PS5 Pro still feel like a weird product?

Buying a stand is like purchasing seatbelts for your new car...

"Games we told you that were going to be 60 fps at 4k four years ago are actually going to do that now, trust us"

They should do a Playstation Challenge, kind of like the Pepsi Challenge back in the 80s. Let people play without telling them which console version they are using to see if they can tell which one it is. I bet they can't.

Did you asked Sony if they had any new games? Or just more PS4 remastered games.

Setting aside the ludicrous price of the PS5 pro and the fact SONY won't even give you a vertical stand after forking out 700 bucks, it is clear how gaming companies don't want players to own the games they buy after all the recent attempts at moving the industry to digital-only releases of games and, now, consoles.
If you don't own the games you buy, you won't be able to play them if the servers shut down or if they are pulled from the online store; if your account gets closed, stolen or banned, you lose access to all your library of games; if a friend owns a game you want to play, you won't be able to simply borrow their disk, forcing you to either buy it digitally or not play it at all.
Right now I can grab my PS2 and play any game I want by simply inserting the disk. Say I bought the digital version of Insomniac's Spiderman, how can I possibly play it, say, 20 years from now if they pulled it from the store and there is no way to download it?
You can OWN a disk, but a digital download? You're at the corporation's mercy.

can they not just make a simple black box that lies flat and has a built-in disc drive?

Sony is testing the waters for PS6. If we buy the Pro for this outrageous price they will start the 6 at a minimum of $700 to $900 for the basic model then more with add ons. Since they have no competition and we are addicts they will continue to gouge us with prices and give free ones to celebrities or influencers like this channel (which I love btw) but it’s a sloppy slope

Not worth the $700 price tag especially when they REMOVE a disc drive... its a pro system so add to it not SUBTRACT from it. Also probably why it's still up on PS Direct for preorder.

For people playing on 1080P, Ofcourse it's not gonna be worth it - However myself included that got a 77¨ LG2 4K OLED, and notice stuttering quite often, and every game I have, I have to play on performancemode for it not to become a stutterfest. The price is a lot yes, but if you can sell your old PS5, it's not thaat bad. Would be nice to use the TV to its true performance without adjusting the PS5 graphic-settings

This year Sony added Go Faster Stripes!
It's bound to make it faster...
So it's finally time to buy a PS 4 Pro.

Unfortunate the only people who will get value from this are the scalpers.

They really don’t need a ps6 at this point honestly. They’ve reached their peak and should enjoy what they’ve made over 30 years

Nothing like wasting money on a brand new console with basically no improvements, no ability to play physical media and no games that will have to be soon replaced by PS6.

If you want to waste so much money on consoles, just get a PC already. On the long run it's way cheaper than having to constantly bye new consoles. With pc you just replace a single part or two whenever you want.

I ended up buying one from Sony direct. I have a ps5, xsx and a high end gaming pc. I decided to buy one because I sold my xsx and ps5 which offset the price enough for me to justify buying one. I have a 55 inch 4k 120hz tv as well so it’s worth it for me. Truly the main reason I wanted one is because of gta6. If gta runs better on this machine it’s worth it to me. Other than that I can get most Xbox games on my pc and they’ll run better.

Let's hope they keep the optical drive! Part of the allure of having physical media, for me anyway, is the ability to make at least a portion of your expenditures back, when you are done using your machine, and/or that specific game. Even letting someone borrow it to see if they like it. Having all digital stuff is convenient, but then you really have nothing to show for it... but, I'm an old timer who grew up with Atari, NES, and PS1, so my opinion doesn't matter much.

Wow!!! I know rendering is cool. But how much realistic do we need to get? I’m a gamer from the Attarii 2600. lol those were giant pixels in box shape! And we had fun! I remember after Nintendo we drooled at the graphics! Then Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, then Nintendo 64 then Panasonic then Sony PlayStation & Xbox arrived! Every generation of graphics got better! I think we are pretty great! Where I think they need to focus on is making great games! More new and fun games! No remastering great classics but making new fun games that will become classics! Better games beats that it looks like I’m in a real car shining in the sun. If the game is no fun it gets put away no matter how realistic it looked or captured the beam of the sun on the grass! As for not supporting blu rays, eliminating disc has been their agenda for years! No more buying second hand used games or sharing games. It’s also happening with blu ray movies!

Great video. Do you think sony will release an "AI machine learning dongle" for use in the PS5 ? The CPU in the PS5 Pro is the same as the PS5, so the many of us who have an PS5 must either wait for the PS6 or consider if a "plug and play PC" would be better since sony are releasing more popular games on the PC market.

Even if the PS5 Pro supports (upscaled) 8K resolution, it won't matter unless you have an 8K TV/monitor which is not likely considering how cost ineffective they are at the moment. What they need to do is have locked 60 fps with 4K (native or upscaled).

I never was able to get a PS5 so the PS5 Pro is what I'll be getting.

What I want to know is if the PS5 Pro still has the single expandable storage slot or if it has 2.

I do feel like the PS5 Pro is mainly for enthusiasts and for those that never got the PS5. If you have the PS5 or PS5 Slim, the PS5 Pro might not be the best choice.

If companies want to shift to all digital, they need to have a better refund/trade in system for consoles. There's also the issue of games requiring more and more storage and the price per GB on NVMe drives are still expensive.

On the PS6, I would guess we're gonna see 1 SKU that is digital only with the option to buy a disc drive. I also think we might see PlayStation selling upgrade modules instead of doing a full blown PS6 Pro. So maybe it'd be modular components for an APU and RAM that is easy to install. I hope they they go away from soldered on storage.
