It will get better not worse, I see a shift of companies realizing there is profit to be made from devices instead of ecosytems. if they can make a tiny amount of profit or break even with £5 sensors then it not a big shift you make them compliant and sell them for £8 making profit.

I think the problem is that when companies start to grow, they start to close their products, like Tuya, which has now started to encrypt Zigbee communication. I think that the Z-Wave starting to grow at the same pace can happen the same.

Not thrilled with Z-Wave, lots of connection problems.
I'm 90% MQTT, mostly tasmota, and 433mhz battery sensors.

Can you really run home assistant off an SD card? I thought you had to have some kind of external SSD drive.
