GOTWA - it's a five point contingency planning tool that can be applied to any number of emergency or SHTF scenarios. Use this tool the next time you or others need to move away from the main body to mitigate risks.

Stoker... Good advice and a great carryover from military to civilian... Also if you don't practice (and educate) this mindset with family (or other likeminded), you're compromising the mission and safety of the team - Keep up the great information... 👍🍺👍

Great video the message can be applied in so many ways I'd or daily activity. Routine things like going to the grocery store, things happen GOTWA will determine the outcome either it be favorable or disastrous. I have told my family about this they have been trained. I made a check sheet with the GOTWA points. I will test them by a drill, got to be proficient and Stoked.

Excellent ! Just like a very well detailed Float/Flight plan (with the addition of the "why" of the trip, and the "what") to do in case of ?!

Hey Stoker, after watching that movie '127 Hours', I would never go hiking or camping again without leaving my tentative plans with someone. And the buddy system is a good idea as well.

The GOT was pretty obvious, but I think the WA could be a whole series of videos by itself.

Thanks for suggesting GOTWA in day-to-day circumstances. Can you elaborate on the What and Actions steps for field situations? You mentioned bounding forward or backward to pre-marked positions. I haven't heard of that before. What sort of SOP's are out there for the What and Actions steps? I realize a lot is dependent on the specific circumstances, but a bit more info would be useful. Thank you!
