Many years ago I noticed woman walking behind me in central London at around 11pm. I slowed down to let her pass and she slowed down too. Once I realized she wanted to be behind me, I took my wallet out of me back pocket and moved it to an inner front pocket and she started swearing at me and walked off in the other direction.

Never trust anyone to be behind you in London or any other busy place.
