If you are cruising with Royal Caribbean on the Icon of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas, or any of their other ships leaving from south Florida, chances are you will be stopping at their private island: Coco Cay. There are many activities offered, but not all of them are included in the price of your cruise.

We stay in the free parts of the island. The complimentary food on the island is just fine for lunch.

My wife and I spent $0 there and had a wonderful time! We especially enjoyed longing on a hammock under the shad of palm trees.

At many all inclusive in the Caribbean this activates on the beach are included, at Sandals, you even get free scuba, snorkeling, glass bottom boat, and all the none motorize activates, and including alcoholic drinks served right on the beach, for less a night than the cabana at CoCo Cay. You do have to pay for off resort activities, but you are not rushed like on a cruise.

We don't book cruises which stop at the cruise lines's private islands. We find these private islands are money grabs and you need to pay extra for everything. No thank you. I'd rather pay for excursions.

As for pricing for high Beach club, Zach, the travelling man said when he went it was $148 and that included the elevated lunch of lobster and steak. Zack said that lobster and steak was the best he ever had on any cruise anywhere. Not sure if I would pay an extra $148 just to have a separate area away from all the kids and families.

When cruising to coco with hubby, we love spending the day at oasis pool at the swim up bar which is free (drinks package works there) and enjoy the nearby lunch, when just my daughter and I, we book the coco beach club and have a relaxing day with elevated lunch, she loves the steak there. In regards to cabanas I would never pay RCCL prices, there are better options on other islands!

Our last visit to Coco Cay in February 2024 I noticed how many upcharge locations RCCL had added to the island! Holy crap! The Hideaway Beach ticket price was a very affordable $32.99 each and it had just opened to paying cruise passengers. That was worth it at that price point! As far as the $1K and up Cabanas (Including the $3799 overwater ones) my observation was it was large groups of passengers using them. There were at least a half a dozen bachelorette and bachelor parties occupying these Cabana locations (especially around the exclusive pool at Hideaway Beach). Looks to me that RCCL figured out that there is niche market for "Money no object" spending for Wedding parties! Lol! They would not have them if they couldn't make money from them. I'll take MSC's Ocean Cay over RCCL Coco Cay any day! I like feeling I'm on a relaxing island not an Orlando FL waterpark.

Really helpful videos - thanks ! Any recommendations for excursions in Nassau for a first time visit? I hear many people don’t even get off the boat though.

We were on Wonder of the Seas last year. We didn’t even get off the ship because it was not evident there was anywhere to sit and relax for free. Thanks to you, I now know there is, it although looks crowded.
Thanks, Morgan!

We just went last week for the first time to coco cay, we did all the free stuff, captain jacks, kids splash away bay, oasis lagoon. There was no need to buy anything extra. We had a great time, ate the included food. We found plenty of seating too at the oasis pool.

This video helped me so much.. People talk so much on how the vacation was but people don't say what they paid at the time.

wow!!! So much has changed since our trip there around the time of your first video. I'm not sure I am a fan of it all but glad there is still snorkeling and free food and beach available.

We were on the Utopia in Sept and my daughter did the Reef Snorkeling Excursion. She really enjoyed it and thought the provider ( a contractor RCCL uses who does snorkeling excursions in the Bahamas) was excellent.

$3700 dollars! That is $5100 Canadian. That is crazy. No thanks! I would definitely be doing the free things only.

I agree with you on the outrageous prices of cabanas! Like WHAT?! 😳 but I will say this- keep watching the prices because they fluctuate quite a bit! When we first booked our cruise, water park tickets were $150!! Now, 10 days out, they are only $63. Still expensive when you consider both water parks here in Vegas are around $40pp but atleast it got alittle closer to reasonable

We went there almost a year ago. We ate buffet for free on island as well as found hammocks to lay in for free and we had a beautiful time.

We were on inaugural sailing of Icon back in January, after a walk around the island and a quick trip in the balloon.
I did enjoy the island, but we are not really beach people and prefer destination stops on a cruise.
Second week on b2b we stayed onboard and took advantage of an almost empty ship.

I would just like to say thank you for actually giving prices for the extra charge things. So many vlogers just say its an extra charge.

To change the subject a bit...I really think the mega amusement park ships with 7600 passengers should be limited to sea days and private islands. Instead of overcrowding ports that can't handle the overload of tourists (venice, alaska, barcelona, cape cod, key west) and want to ban cruise ships, limiting the ships to 3000 or fewer passengers would keep everyone happy. It also might keep some of the ships more adult oriented if there weren't water slides and go carts. Leave that on the mega ships with plenty of sea days for everyone to enjoy the on board activities. Maybe stop overnight on a private island where there aren't hotels or restaurants that are suffering from no land based tourism. The cruise line gets to keep ALL the money.

For the maiden voyage of Star of the Seas the overwater cabana is 'on-sale' for $4278.99 from a list price of $5349. If you add to total and put it in your cart, the final price is $4706.88 because of an addition $427.89! I have stay there a few times in the early years when the cost was much lower and it is nice. On my Utopia of the Seas sailing later this year it is $1896.38. On my Celebrity sailing also later this year it is $2133.99, so the price does vary a lot. I remember when CoCo cay first opened I paid about $700 for a Thrill Water cabana and that included the entrance fee for up to eight people. In the beginning, sometimes it was cheaper to get a cabana than separate entrance. Not any more

I only paid like 40 dollars for thrill water park, we went on Anthem of the seas in April 2024
