Cold Sorc AFTER Nerf To Cold Mastery (Patch 2.6)

just a little bit of commentary and gameplay to showcase the cold sorceress post nerf for anybody interested in seeing it with some top end gear (no infinity necessary still) let me know what you think below and have a great day!

there is a pattern in worldstone level 2, when you cross over the first bridge after wp and take right at every turn, its fastest way to find 3rd floor. works always.

Cold mastery - exists in op state for 20 years.
2022: gets insane buff
2023: gets nerf that is half of the buff
Community: "now its weak..."

With the same gear you're using at the previous patch, you shouldn't feel any difference in kill speed vs non-cold immunes. The changes however has widen (by a lot) the kill speed vs immunes as evident on the Eldritch and Shenk clip since you no longer do -100, you're about -45. I suggest dropping the Enigma for a 4-socket armor with -20/+20, and if you're farming places with tons of cold immune, you could sacrifice overall damage by replacing the Fathom to Doom instead. That should "flatten" out the gap.

I've been doing lots of test runs amongst the three elements, and so far the weakest is Cold (even on low cold immune areas such as Chaos Sanctuary)

Basically, i would play similar build, but without the Nova. Just on Frozen orb and Blizzard + synergies. I do put 1 point in Static field and i play it without Energy shield too.
Blizzard destroy the long range enemies, frozen orb - mid and close range. Yes, Frozen Nova is good, but if you are fed-up with items like you :P

the way i see it, is if you play purely blizzard ( which is what i like ) even on P1 cold immunes feel tedious to kill because of blizzard not hitting a lot of the time and if you want to solo farm P8 areas with cold immunes it's literraly wayyy too long to kill stuff it's not even worth it. my gear is Dfathom, nightwing veil CoH spirit and all the good stuff with some skillers.

i run blizz sorc with df nightveil n ormus 3 blizz against immunes have a little bit struggle but i noticed that if you use a doom with a decent roll of negative cold 54-60 you melt everything plus you have a holy freeze for more safety

Never liked Cold Sorc for anything other than starting the season and mephisto/andy "seasonal baby steps" ; i just don't see myself running terror zones throwing blizzard at enemies. but maybe that's just me, the build is still strong regardless :)

Ofc with the best gear and skillets it’s still good. As a ladder starter though, with a 3K blizzard, it’s a lot slower against cold inmunes.

people heavily underestimate how much damage cold mastery can give into immunes, 95% res is the sunder charm.
200%cm is giving you 40% pen.
so you deal roughly 9 times the damage to sundered immunes. that's way higher than both fire and lightning mastery into targets that actually matter.
lightning mastery is like 6 times damage boost and fire mastery is like 4 times damage boost.
i'm assuming no facets or infinity.

Cold sorc is still very strong. I have no trouble farming with her. And she's not optimizated for damage. 500+ MF, zero skiller charms, no CTA. No crazy weapon swap pre buff needed. 1 cold sunder and max cold master is all you need.

You have a lot of -cold res from your gear, so you wouldn’t really feel too much of a difference. But before the nerf, you didn’t need DF or NW or facets to melt EVERYTHING. I def feel the difference, because I don’t have this gear. But I’m still able to kill players 3 with a little static field and not a lot of effort. So it’s still very powerful even after the nerf.

So is FB sorc superior now? I run 3 piece tals orb/flickering flame/and phx shield. With facets in orb and armor I’m at -66 enemy fire. Only at 80 fcr unfortunately. Idk if infinity on merc would b better but I’m using prayer merc with insight for the stacking passive healing so I don’t worry about blood mana curse.

I've been playing my cold sorc as bliz/orb with only a single point in cold mastery. I got infinity on the merc so with plus skills non immunes go down easily. At 92 and can p7 TZ in my mf gear. Plan to have a max damage setup with doom to take care of cold immunes.
