I absolutely love this man! :-) he's got such a powerful voice. I've been a fan of his for what seems like forever. Who cares if people aren't jumping around. I don't care if he's singing metal or country. I'm still gonna be a fan. Some people actually go to a concert and pay to hear him sing not watch a bunch of people jumping around. I prefer just him and his guitar actually. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions. He will always be awesome :-)

Just got to meet him two nights ago... I was a Staind fan for a very long time, and realized it's just been him this whole time. He is the sweetest most down to earth guy, I was incredibly nervous meeting him and he knew that I was without me saying anything lol as much as I loved him before, I love him even more now. I wish he had more of a following now with his pursuing of country music, he is so talented people.

Staind would be the one heavy band from the 90s that I wouldnt place in the NuMetal category though. I cant seem to recall a single "rapped" song from Staind's discography, nor are Mike's songs easy to master the way he writes them. Like Ive said before, they're the only band outside of KoRn that was able to be in the mainstream with downtuned guitars. KoRn rocked A standard on a 7, but Mike rocked a modified G# tuning on a baritone (long scale) guitar. Couple this with the 29 different tunings Mike's used in Staind's discography so far, you really learn how to voice chords so much differently.


Staind showed me that you can be real heavy without having to scream nonstop, which opened my world. I finally had a band that wrote the soundtrack to whats inside my head all day and night.
