So a random variable is something that changes. Random means that each different thing is differently likely with a different outcome

8:26 Aren't continuous random values also kind of discrete? For example if we had temperature values from equivalently spaced time stamps to the same accuracy, wouldn't that form a discrete dataset? Or are continuous variables connected to time? Or is it that continous involve decimals whereas discrete don't?
