THE TRUTH About Tesla's $15,000 Tiny House For Sustainable Living

There have been a lot of videos showing up on YouTube about a $15,000 tiny house for sustainable living. Lately I've been getting a lot of comments on my channel referring to this potential tiny home but I have a feeling it's too good to be true. I did a deep dive to try and figure out where the misinformation might be coming from and I think I've figured out where the wired have been crossed. The videos about a potential Tesla tiny home all seem to use the same home in their thumbnail but it already exists. The home being used is actually the C2 from Nestron and it's already available for sale and can be purchased right now. In this video I look into what is being said on YouTube and dig deeper into whats real and whats clickbait. Watch and learn about the companies actually building these homes and where you can get them!

My little cabin was $11, 000. 14x20, two story. Came pretty bare, really just a shell with a porch and metal roof. I've got about $3000 into it so far and it's pretty cozy.

I've been living in a $5000 "tiny home" for 6 years now. It's called a used travel trailer in the US. Very easy to find all over here.

Also before purchasing any kind of tiny or mobile home, Please check your local laws because your town might not allow these types of homes. It’s easier in rural unincorporated areas.

If Tesla ever makes a real Tiny-home, it will be $100, 000+ and filled with a ton of futuristic crap you don't really want. Tesla makes stuff for rich people.

The entire concept of these homes misses a lot of very important and inconvenient facts which make it far less plausible for the people who want one.
1. You need to pay for the land to put it on, which is usually more than the cost of the house itself.
2. You need to pay for services to be delivered to that land, from power and water to waste removal.
3. In most instances you have to pay for it to be recognized and incorporated into a local plan, giving you an ADDRESS. Without that you're screwed.
4. You need planning permission in most locations, which also costs a lot of money.
So, while you might be looking at something like this thinking it's awesome and affordable, 99% of people will soon discover that while the cost of the home itself is lower than average the costs of everything you then need to make it viable soon start to stack up and make it as impossible as buying a traditional home.

I bought a 38 ft travel trailer brand new. I pay $250 a month and $300 a month to park it with sewage, water, power. My 16 year old son, our cat and I live comfortably and I run my handmade jewelry business from it as well. We did make some small alterations. Everyone who comes here to see it leaves wanting to do the same.

Nestron's models range from a starting price of $30, 000 for the 156-square-foot Cube One to $52, 000 for the 263-square-foot Cube Two. There's also the simpler Legend line, which ranges from $19, 000 to $39, 900.

I appreciate the time you take to research and produce your videos...so informative! I would like to know if the Boxable Casita is available with a pitched roofline as a flat roof in my area is not ideal taking into consideration the snow and rain we receive.

More questions for Boxabl, Kerry: Why don't they have a list of appliance brands they are using? Are they going to supply the specs of the building materials they are using? What windows, doors, etc. What are the R values of the walls, ceiling, floor, doors, and windows?

It's true. Everything is true :-) If you read between the lines on the one channel they do say the BOXABL IS $50k. At least the clickbait does lead you to an actual company.

Questions for your Boxabl tour: How customizable will they be and what kind of a timeline do they predict on when some of their other "boxes" will be available?

You, Kerry are really growing on me☺️
Thanks for this moment of clarity.... I am in the market for a tiny home and also attempted to research the unicorn Tesla Tiny... glad it wasn’t just me using a crap search engine!

I've always wanted a tiny home. I don't know why, but even as a child I did.

Finally, enterprising people people have started designing tiny home communities. They do the hard stuff with the government and planning. I found one and am hoping that a variety of communities will open up for other people who want tiny homes.

Kerry, I've been watching your videos for a while and I am really enjoying them.  Thanks.
I would also like to know if Boxabl units can be stacked and how high (how many storeys?) . I would also love it if you would feature stackable modular/prefab units from any manufacturer in future videos. I'm looking for higher modular homes but with small ground floor footprints (like townhouses) for urban city living.

Boxabl question you asked for: Can you combine modules via "connective architecture"? Like buying the living module in year one, buying/attaching an office/workshop in year 3, buying/attaching a garage in year 4, etc. Boxes connected by doors or pass-thrus (protected from weather).

Back in the 90s we had homes that were $15k. They were everywhere. They're called a singlewide trailer home. Except now, they want you to pay $120k for one. No wonder everyone is looking for a product that doesn't exist. Btw, has anyone SEEN one of those Tesla trucks yet?! Or is that just another tall tale? You're starting to make phizer look like an honest company, Elyon!

Love the video mate. Love videos that bring people back to reality.

Boxabl question: They seem to be focused on their US business at the moment. If given the right opportunity and government support, how soon would they consider starting up in Australia? Queensland in particular has experienced lots of flooding this year wiping out hundreds of houses, and during a housing shortage too (population growth). Affordable options like Boxabl would definitely help with the problems here.
