Magic Soap and Pepper

In today’s experiment we have one of our volunteers, Nila, show us how to make pepper flakes in water scatter. This happens when soap is put into water and breaks the surface tension, causing the pepper flakes to scatter. In this experiment, we explore the concept of surface tension of water, and this experiment is an example of how soap is used to clean greasy dishes. For this experiment you will need: 1 tbsp of pepper, 1 bowl, 1 cup of water, 1 drop of dish soap. You can skip ahead to 0:42 to get started!
