Buck Williams also said the same. He said, "If we had Sabonis (old and injured) about 4 years ago, we would have worn 2 or 3 rings." I tend to agree. It may not be 2 or 3 rigs, but I believe those Blazers would have won at least one championship.

Sabonis in his prime would not have made a difference for Drexler or Portland winning a title.
The reason Portland could not win a title was exactly like Houston did with Drexler and Olajuwon losing 3 straight Final Fours to the eventual national champs from 1982-1984, even though Drexler wasn't on the 1984 team .
The reason both teams could never win titles was because they were not a smart team when it came down to execution in close games.
Go back and look at how Drexler played in those 1982 and 1983 Final Fours and how he played in clutch times in the 1990 NBA Finals, the 1991 WCF and the 1992 NBA Finals and in each situation, you cannot say Drexler played like a all time great as a team leader.
A perfect example would be the 1990 NBA Finals when Drexler played good statistically but in close losses in Games 1, 4 and 5, when Portland had leads, he was not able to match or better the play of Isiah Thomas (Games 1 and 4) or Vinnie Johnson in Game 5. just

slasher.
